DIEL` IN LONDON.
The death took place in London on
Sept 23rd, of Bertha, wife of Albert
Frank Clarke, in her 28th year. De-
cear ed was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Fred, Genttner of Dashwood; Besides
the husband and parents she is sur-
vhed by three childre:n, four sisters
and two brothers, Mrs, Fred. Wells
and Mrs. Ed. Harness of .Exeter, Mrs,
Gabler of Hamilton;, and Miss Emma,
Charles and ;Fred of Dashwood, The
funeral took ,place at London on Sat-
urday, many of theaaarelatilves from
this district .being prdsent,

tion on Monday. The pump has a cap
acity of 225 gallons per minute, and
works automatically—,wlien the water
in. the -tank is low the Hump starts, and
it stops when the tank is filled. This
will ensure a continuous supply of
water for users and for fire purposes
and does away with the necessity of a
man going to the station to renew
the ,supply. The investment is about
53000, and it is a good lone,

the unf'ortw)ate accident which hap-
pened koala Exeter Old Boy on Wed-
nesday night oaf 1,aat week, when Dr.
Roy ,Fartner, was accidentally shot
near thq+bearq, by a revolver which he
was handling at the home of his par-
eats, 419 Princess avenue, Louden.
Dr. Farmer ,was alone: at the time, but
members .of the: family heard two
shots, hastened to his aid and called
medical aid. The young man was
rushed to the hospital and an, X-ray
of the wound takers. Heevas consci-
ous when taken to the hospital, and
said that the ,affair .was accidental Dr
Farmer graduated from Western Un-
iversity about ,five years ago, being the
goldmedalist of his class. When the
war broke out he went to Englend,and
joined the Royal ,Army Medical Corps
anti served in the, .naval division as need
].cat officer ,on a destroyer for some
time. About two years ago he re-
turned and since that time has been
carrying on his practice in London. He
is ;bout 27 years of age.

DEATH OF PETER McTAGGAR'1',
One of Exeter's best '.crown and
respected citizens passed away an
Sunday, Sept. 26, in the person of Mai
!Peter McTaggart, in his 78th year,
lfr, McTaggart was afflicted with can-
cer about twoyears sago, and lois
health has been gradually on the wane
ever since. During the past year he
sutlered much Hain, but he bore it
all with eatienee and resignation, The
deceased was bornnear Belleville, On-
tario, and came to these parts when
a lad about five, seeding with hes .ar-
ents on the fa'm he 'vacated on the
London Road north, about eleven years
ago when he retired and moved to
Exeter. About 46 years ago he mar
ried Miss Annie Case, by whom hear
survived, and to the ha;ipy union was
born five children—three sons and
two daughters, Dr. James- ., dentist
of Toronto; Edward, near Virden,
Man.; agent Georget Blyth; R.

ed was a me'mbe'r of the Trivitt Mem,.
oriel Church and was ,always regular
add faithful in his attendance at the
services when health permitted, He
was a. true man,, a staunch friend, a

grave the ,record of a well lived life,
and of duty faithfully performed. Tlie
funeral, which was private, took place
to the Exeter cemetery on Tuesday,
all the family being present, except
