illness from appendicitis, but is re-

Mr. G, M. Bray of Ottawa is the
new accountant at the Canadian Bank
of Commerce. .Mr. Case Howard, at
present on the sick list, has been not-
ified of his transfer to Sault Ste. Marie

Mrs. Wm. ,\Virer of Stephen was
painfully" injured on Saturday last by
a wiling hayfork striking her on the
head and shoulder. The accident

ron counties met in conference in
Stratford. At the morning session
subscription rates for...weekly papers
was discussed. Newspaper .,publishers
have been obliged to meet abnormal
increases in costs, of paper, ink, wages
and other tfaetars, and it was decided
that the subscription price for weekly
newspapers should be $2 ,per year on,
and after October 1st next, Subscrib-
ers in, Ai:Tears, who have ,not paid up
b ythat time will be charged the in
creased rate for arrears as well as
for the period due in advance. The
