On Saturday last Mrs. Willis Pow-
c,l bad her hand severely burned, when
the pantry became on fire;: The blaze
was soon extinguished and little dam-
age was done.
One morning last week a little child

Jr.lEl i Snell, who has been; under-

weeks, returned to his home here on

has been a success, and Mr. Snellnow
gives promise of complete recovery.
He withstood the. severe treatment
remarkably well, and although thinner
he looks well, notwithstanding that he
has been deprived of one ear.

The arcalentai death occurrednear
Dauphin, Man., of Oliver Trann, who
was killed by a falling tree. The funeS1
took place at Crystal City, where bis
father, Mr, Wm. L. Trann, lives. De-
ceaeed was 30 years of age and leaves
a widow and three small c4illdreni
The late Nfr, Trann ,was a nephew of
Mr. Peter M. Moir ,of Thames Road,
Usborne, his mother being a sister of
Mr. Moir. Mr. Trane was a particular-
ly clevee horseman, especially in the
saddle,
TRAIN SERVICE COMING BACK,
Announcement has been made that
on and after December 28th the. nor-
mal .train service will be resumed. On
the L. H. & B. we will have two pas-
senger trains each way each day. It
will be welcome.

DR. KNIGHT DEAD.
The death took place in London on
Tuesday of last week from heart fail-
ure of Dr. B, Knight, drugless phy-
sician, who until the change in train
service had been coming to Exeter
weekly for several months, and had his
office at the home of Mr. W. Andrew.
He was 58 years sof age, The funeral
took place Thursday at London.
BUNTY PULLS THE STRINGS.
This well-known Scotch play was
put on 3,n the Opera House on Fri-
day might and proved all that was
claimed for it. The play is, clean,,full
of homely humor, and the quaint char-
acters Etre: well portrayed by the ar-
tistts. A.: is often the ,case in Exeter
a good play gets a poor house. The
atte,glance in this case was the only
thing lacking.
WIFE DIED.
The •death occurred in; Toronto on
Thursday last of Janet Hogarth, wife
of Mr. Wm. Heideman, formerly of
Exetea-, at the age of 24 yearse Her
Jemise was due to diabetes, • from
which she had been 3,11 for about three
months, Deceased had always resid
ed in Toronto. Besides her husband
she is survived by a little daughter of
one and a half years, both of when
have .the sympathy of their frienrdsa
The funeral took place in Toronto on
Saturday, and was attended by Misses
Edith and Emma Heideman of town.
