Stephen Council
The Council of the township of
Stephen convened in the town hall,
Crediton, on Tuesday the 2nd, day
of September, 1919, at 1 p, m, A11
members were present. The min-
utes of the previous meeting were
read and adopted.
Neeb.— Hayes.- That By -Law
No, 25 8 to levy taxes for the year
1919 having been read three times
be passed and signed ,by the Reeve
nd Clerk awl the seal at the cor-
poration attached thereto. Carded.
A communication from Mr. Patter-
son, County of Huron Engineer, re:
Robinson's gravel pit, was read; and
ordered to be filed,
Also coniunieations from Engin-
eers of the Counties of Huron and
Middlesex in reference to tate bridge
on the Town Line between. the Town -
ebbe of Stephen and McGillivray,
were read, It was agreed that the
Reeve consult with the Reeve ot the
Township of McGillivray and have
the bridge put in a proper state of
repair,.
A communication from Hugh
Brown claiming damages to his auto-
mobile which he claimed was sus-
tained on the 22nd. Concession was
• read and on ,notion was ordered to
be filed.

Zurich Fair
The '('World's Fair" at Zurich on
greeted last was greeted with ideal
weather and the fair will go on
record as one of the most successful
int the history of the society„ There
, was a large attendance and the var-
ious departments were well represent-
ed. The Ladies' department brought
forth much favorable comment, the
exhibit being of high merit; This laa-
cality is noted for high class stools
and the best was here on exhibition.
This year the.direetors secured the
services of hie Neil McFaatane of
Creemore, a government appointed
judge, on horses, anti his fairand im-
partial decisions throughout the vaar-•
roue classes, gave entire satisfaction:
Both young and old were much tak-
en up with the mete and dancing of
the London Highlanders, who alsoput
on a concert in the Town Hall in the
evening erei were greeted with a
bumper house.
The Baby Show was` Pal rnterreeteng
feature and Dr, Kline, of London;
who was aa'tin , as ,judge hail no
small task in giving his decisions. Fol-

VENTION.
The Liberal Conservative Conven-
vention for South Huron will be held
in the Town Hall, Hensall, Monday,
Sept, 29th, 1919, at 2,o'clock p.,m.,
to select a candidate for the Provin-
cial Election, to elect officers and

The United Farmers of South Hur-
on held a Con'tc(ntelon in the Town
Hall, Hensall, on Monday afternoon
last to select a. candidate for the
Legislature.' The hall was filled, del-
egates being present from all parts
of the riding: There was also ,quite
a spattering of ladies as delegates
and otherwise throughout the audience
as well as a number of spectators.
W. D. Sanders was assigned to the
