Now I ane going to tell you that. the secret of true economy is the serving of a prate of good, pelatable soup at the beginning of dinner.. When properly made, soup is a stimulating and wholesome dish that will add elegance to the frugal meal. It stimulates and promotes the diges- tion and prepares the stomach fcr the food that follows. Have the butcher emelt the bones well, and then rinse them under cold water and place in a pot together with the seasoning. Add the required aan- ount of coli water and bring to a boil. Cover the bones nn the kettle with cold water again and add any left -over gravies, bits of meat, trimmings and bones that you may have on hand. Cook slowly on the back of the range for four hours, and hen strain, and to two quarts of this stock add one "Oh, thank yoa, Mrs. Corcoran, Oh,; can of tomatoes, one cupful of diced '•ialotlie r, I've some sleet lie;:'., fort thank y:su, I should love to:' Iessly letit to spoil when iso much labor was spelt. in. eantaieg lest sum- mer, and when there are ao many hungry mouths to Jur, Save the spoonfuls. They aro worth it. Good Nature Contagious. A certain little boy wide getting into the habit of ,:getting, erj e .ially at the breakfast hour, and Ws mother reproved him by heh. elf fretting at him. The whole ,coaiifort of the real*n, ing became endangered. Father went to his office evitis a little worried frown on his face, and an older child to school in a mood to be irritated by things which Eater in the day she could easily Laugh over, It was mc: Cher who dieeover ed the danger and the, remedy. She found that Little Boy, reproved for and for - hidden to mention one thing, turned to another and tillage instead of be- coming better grew worse, When she a`K•trted the ref eenetion, she pretend- ed not to notice that he grumbled when the room was cold, but culled his attention to the feet that the .now se?riles were getting ready to throw down tahole basketsfull of snow_- enough to go coa_•ting.'Whenever there evened a likelihood of com- plaint frail little boy she diverted it by a cheery remark or a happy sug- ge9tion. The result was magical, The morning grouch, which no amount of reproof or scelding eauld banish, dis- nppeared under the :turieh, ine of tact and good nature. Perhaps instead of Little Boy it is ;.tame eider member of the fax:lily who ,:gets out of bead on the wrong side," A eroes weird or a reproof sometimes sets the whole day wrong. Just as our sense of taste and hearing are more acute during the first few hours of the day, so also is the sense that gives anther the power to hurt us by word or look, Whatever happens let smiling faces and unfailing good temper be the guests at the break - fat table. ...
