The death took place; at Saskatoon
last week of Rev, 5. W. Holmes, pas-
tor many years ago of Main Street
Methodist Church., Exeter;, at 81 years
of age., He had . been retired some
years, He went West nine years ago,
after a long and successful minister-
ial career an Westema Ontario Occupy-
ing :charges, in.; addition to London, at.
Exeter, Clinton,Stratford, St. Marys,
and Mitchell. He was Presidaknt of
London Conference in 1892. The late
Mr. , Holmes was born in Ireland., He
leaves his widow, .who was .his second
Wife, and five sons and two daughters.
One daughter is Mrs. Geo. Haldane of
Strnthray and another resides an-Sask,-
attoon. O>.e son, Joseph; Holmes,' is' a
broker in Saskatoon, while another,
Lieut, -Col. (Dr.) Holmes, of the Can-
adian Army Medical Carps, Witley
Camp The, :eldest son. is a physician
of ,note, in New York city, The •fun-

An aged resident of Exeter passed
away an November 22nd, in the per-
son= of Margaret Hobkirk, relict of
the late Donald Smith Bell, at the.
of 79 years. The funeral, which was
private, took place on Monday, at ,2
o'clock from 'the residence of , Mr.
Thomas Laing, Andrew. street, Exeter,
to Hensall Union 'Cemetery..
Since the death of her Husband, five
years ago Mrs. Bell has resided with,
her daughter Mrs. Cooper, and later,
with her •daughter, ,Mrs, Laing. She
Was' born. in Scotland ,and died on her
79th birthday;,
