At a nesting of the Exeter School
Board on Wednesday evening of last
week ..the salaries of the Public
Schoot teachers were increased $25;

Warden W. R. Elliott and a special
committee appointed fon that purpose
recently purehsaed a Children's Shel-
ter far the Huron County Children's
Aid Society. The property pur-
chased was a brick residence in God-
erich. owner by P. J. Ryan. The
price was $2400,00.
UNDERWENT OPERATION.
Mr, H. J. Haviland, Principal of the
Exeter High School, underwent an op-
eration, for appendicitis on Monday
Morning at his home here. Dr. Moore
of Landon and Dr. alcGiilicuddy per-
formed .the operation., and they were
assisted by Mrs. Bryson, of Rockaway
Beach Hospital, New York, who is
a daughter • of Mr. and Mrs, Hav'i:lancl.
and ruow visiting them for a few weeks

POTATO BLIGHT
Mr. John Dauncey showed tis a
beautiful potato on Monday morning,,
which was plainly affected by a
blight of sio"mie kind. The bhiight is
first ruoticable on the'leaf, which be
gin to dry up and darkest on the
edge, and soon the plant becomes al-
most covered with dark leaves. Soon
after the leaves become affected the
potato itself • becomes affected, and
