On Sunday ,morning a telegram pas
eceived- by Mrs. West that her bus-
ba,nd. Pte. SialrCely West had been
killed in, action. tPrivate West en
Vtited Wit,11 the L61st Battalion in Ex,-
etei -id trained and went overseas
with -the Hunan Battalion. When rthe
draft was made of 200 members to go
to, France (Private West was in the
number, ,and for the past eight mon-
ths he has been at the frant. Pte.

Last week Mr. George Kellett ,odi
Einville. (received word of the death
from wounds in France of his sah,
Pte. George Edward Kellatt, who en-
listed with the 161st Huron, Battaliion
and went overseas with the: battalion
but shortly afterwards with many of

Will Balown, was home last week from

restimg the Sergeants had a dinner,
There were visions of succulent lem-
on pies, stoyies of beer, and sounds od:
high jollification. And 11 the men of
stripes could !have a dinner whY not
the men of deeds?. We also, lance
jacks and simple soldiers hive appet-
ites, and (occasionally are we thirsty.
Why not bay a barrel of beer, get
Rabjohtri and Rollo, to da .their darn-
clest, with the aid 'of Freddie Claido
and others, invite the general and oth-
ers of our friends? And have a din-
ner rourselves? We couldn't see ariV
reason against it and so we dicl it.

DR. BRIGHT DEAD, -It will be
sad news to many ,here to learn of
the death •of Dr. Hugh Ryerso:n_Bright
of Athens, a farmer resident and
practitioner of Exeter, who: died sud-
denly at his home, after -an illness of
only four hours. The. Doctor was a
native of Wellingtion, County, and an
hamar graduate aof Toronto -Univer-
