CLOSE KNITTING CONTEST —
The Soldier's Aid Knitting Contest,
which has extended pver a period
of one month came to a close this
week, and although a few mare pairs
may come in, the contest has resulted
in the knitting of 666 pairs of sacks
a; a cost of i425 in yarn. The re-
sult o: the (contest is very close. The
side chosen by Miss Lulu Martinkait
33.6 pairs and Miss Kathleen Stew-
art's side 330 pairs. This is a most
aernaikable result and shows what a
united effort will. accomplish. rh

Mr. Ed, Tiiebn.ex of Stephen was in
London last week attending the meet-
ings held by the Londan Street Rail-
way Union. Mr. Triebner was an
em-
ploye of the company previous to his
severe illness. Although he is not re-
cuperated enough to resume his du-
ties he feels that lie has still an in
terest in the work.
Rev. Redmond, who has been in
Stratford for the past three months,
returned here on Wednesday tof last
week. It will be remembered that Mr.
Redmond while returning from the
East was strickenwith a severe at-
tack of rheumatism and was conipcli-
ed to lay off at Stratford for treat-
ment. We are pleased to note that he
has almosl fully recovered tro:n his
trouble
iVLr. Jahn H: Scott and family, after
a residence of same years hers, left
this week. far Toronto, where they
will in future reside. A few months
ago Mr Scott was appointed inspect -4

plants, and inaturally he finds Taranto
