New Spring Models 11
It has been a•matter of conjecture
whether coat suits would return to fe-
ver with the spring, or whether the
long coats by which women have stood
firm and steadfast ail through the
winter would continue to satisfy their
needs in spring,
One would naturally conclude that
a coat suit in- spring would be wel-
comed by most women after the heavy,
long coats of winter. But the ques-
tion is still to be settled. In all pro•
liability there will be as many coat
suits as separate coats worn when
springcomes, Some very jaunty
models are being shown now, and
ninny of them have coats in Norfolk
or semi -Norfolk 'effects with plain or
pleated, skirts,
The dressier suits are made of silk
and satin with touches of embroidery
in the same or:some contrasting color.
The coats are generally midway be-
tweon the hips and knees in length ,
For sports wear there is no doubt
that hip -length coats with contrasting
skirts will be very smart,. and there
will be more interest in; -sports clothes.

Besides the Norfolk coats, the loose,
straight -hanging box coat is ono of
the models that promises to be very
much favored. Some of these are
quite short. They are verystunning
made up in velvet and worn with white

for contrast, is used for these coats.

Concrete holds its own in the con-

St. Vitus Dance. This disease' may
appear at any age, but is most com-
mon between the ages of six and
fourteen years. It is caused by thin
blood.. which :fails to carry sufficient
nourishment to the nerves, and the
child becomes restless and twitching
of the muscles and jerking of the
limbs and body fol' -ow. In severe
cases the • child is unable to hold any
thing' or feed itself. St. Vitus Dance
is cured by building up the blood.
The most successful treatment is to
remove the child from all mental. ex

Dr. Williams' Pink Pills. . These pills
renew the blood supply, strengthen the
nerves;' and restore the child to per -

Garden Planning. -
Planning the garden `consists of
more than in measuring of the avail-
able space and laying it out in rows so
many for, this, that and, the other
thing, with a path here and there. It
is when planning the vegetable gar-
den that the fine art of growing two
or three crops in the same place is
achieved. This . is called intensive
cropping, but it isnot nearly so great
an undertaking• as it would appear to
be. For instance,' the space set: apart
for the first planting of lettuce may
later be given over to tomato plants;
where green onions have been grown
a crop of late beets may be. sown. The
radish patch will be used in plenty of
time to fill the space with cabbage
plants, which may be grown In the
meantime from seed in a 'very small
corner of this plot. Cauliflower, too,
or celery, may occupy the same space
that has grown spinach or the like. If
early potatoes are grown they will be
dug before it is too late to'replant the
space in late beans, beets, cabbage,
etc.

A CONTENTED CITY.
Interesting Features' of Adelaide
Large Australian City.
Adelaide's unusual plan—a busines
section surrounded by a zone of 20,00
acres of park lands, beyond which are
theresidential sections—seems de-
signed to put business cares, recrea-
tion and quiet home life in separate
compartments. The organization of
city life to allow for leisure -a feel-
ing more prevalent in Adelaide .than
in Melbourne or even, in Sydney, and
almost unknown in American cities—
is responsible for the universal im-
pression among visitors that Adelaide
ranks high in general culture.
Both climate and the high quality
of the South Australian pioneers are
also factors which have helped to
make Adelaide such a desirable place
of residence. Those who are attract-
ed by :the climate, people and manse
of life of the foothills cities of South-
ern California, who care fore out-of-
door life and flowers and fruit, and
wish to spend' week -ends in nearby
mountains or at the seashore, would
feel at home in Adelaide.
Most writers on Australia profess to
see differences in types'' and manners
in the three leading cities of the Com-
monwealth, and the natives feel sure
that differences exist. Melbourne is
"hustling;" Sydney is "easy=going;"
Adelaide is "solid" and "contented:",
On' the basis of short acquaintance
these characterizations seem as unreal
as "dead" Philadelphia or "provincial"
Boston would to an Australian . tra-
veler. In the American sense, no Aus-
