The Advocate is in receipt of a
newspaper clipping' taken, from eon of
the Winnipeg Rapers, containing a •
picture and write-up of lir. Ed. -Bis- I
sett, an old Exeter bay and a recent
recruit of Camp Hughes. The picture
does fair justice to our old friend
and the write-up likewise, which says:
"Mr. Bissett for many years carried
051 a butcher' business in the old City
market. `Ed:' -as he is populariy
known eras always a great dog fan-
cier and confined his affections to
the pointer, He handled his own dogs
in the field,,an'dthey would do justice
in the field and they would do justice
to many a professional handler. Ed.
has had and has bred the best point-
ers which Winnipeg has seen in many
years both for bench show purposes
and for field trial work. He bred
that grand little pointer, Rap's Ben
which started, its career an the prair-
ies of Manitoba by carrying orf ft rst
in the 'Western ;Canadian Stake, after-
wards, repeating in many of the large
trials in the United States. This same
dog also came out winner an the
bench wherever shown.
Mr. Bissett has been invited and has
accepted tithe position of judge at
the Brandon field trials on Sept. 11
He is a real sport, fond of horses
dogs aria guns, and .could hold his
own with any man ,when after .the
elusive prairie chicken or duck in
October. His stall in the market used
to be. the centre of the ni prods when
he wan here,. He could always tell
where chicken were, most plentiful,
who had a new clog, where it came
front and always there with a real
joke. and in this ,may had a large cir-
cleof friends".
