nounced of Myrtle M., second daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. R. B. McLean,
of this place to Mr. J. Earle Sproat,
the marriage to take place this month.
GODERICH.—Word was received
here Sunday of the death tof one of
Goderich's well-known citizens in
the person of Robert Elliott reeve
of the town. The deceased had
been troubled inwardly for sometime
baet: and had gone to Hamilton for
an operation. The 'operation in it-
self was successful, but the nervous
system was unable to withstand , the
effects, The deceased was 66 years
of age, born in Goderieb Township.

BLYTH—William Mason, after three
postponements pleaded guilty to hav-
ing liquor for sale and paid. $50 and
costs on Friday at Goderich. When

CLINTON.—What might have
proved a serious accident occurred
here on Saturday morning. Mr. D.
Sours, who is deaf and dumb,' was re-
turning from wark on his bicycle and
while crossing the G. T;R. tracks at
the station was' run. into, .by a freight
train. He was thrown from his wheel
down a small embankment, but fortu-
nately was able' to pick lhimself up
and ride home, neither he nor his
wheel apparently being any the worse
