The hunters are now after the black

Mr A J. McDonell is confined to
the house through illness.
The ileavy snow storm of ten clays
ago has almost disappeared.

owing to illness.
Mr. Willis Powell has moved into
the dwelling in connection with his

There can be no kick at present
about a lack of rain,as it pours near-

Quite a slumber from Exeter at-
tended the Sunday= School Convention
at Elimville on Wednesday.
Will Heideman, who has been :suite
ill in Toronto, is recovering, and will
soon resume his duties again,

Members of the Agricultural Soc-
iety were busy Monday levelling the
horse rings on the Fair ground,
Mrs Alex. Stewart and daughter

The Women's Missionary Society
gave a Tea and Program in . James
Street church Monday evening. It
teas very interesting and- largely ,at-

Rev. Haylock and' Mr. Dyer, Ar-
menian spoke in James Street church
Sunday- morning and Rev. Haylock at
night Mr, Dyer addressed the Sun-
day School.

The first of a series of Bible and.
other study meetings for men ...was
held in the School Hall of the Triv-
itt Memorial on Thursday 'last, when
preliminary matters for - organization
were dealt with. The next meeting
will be held Thursday night.
Following the - sad catastrophes of
the recent storm on the inland lakes,'
in which so many lives were lost, the
services of Trivitt Memorial Church
on. Sunday ,night were of a memorial
nature. Sympathetic references 'were"
also made to the terrible disaster in
the other churches.
With a view to bringing :he anti-
tuberculosis movement home most
forcibly to the children in whose
hands the ultimate success of the
movement lies, the Ontario Depart-
ment of Education has authorized the
setting apart of Friday, NOT. 28th, for
a special campaign in the schools of

The Fall Assizes will open in God-
erich on Tuesday, Nov. 25, Mr. jus-
tice Britton presiding. Dudley Holm-

ness, The only case on the criminal
docket is the .Ting vs. Robert Gor-
don of McKiliolp, • charged with kill-
ing his father.
It seems a trifle early to hang out

A few weeks ago a glib -tongued
fellow struck town representing hian-
self to be the travelling agent for the
Ladies' World. He canvassed Exeter
and vicinity pretty thoroughly and
succeeded in picking up quite a few
orders at cut price rates, accompan-
ied be the cash, It has since turned
out that he is a fakir and not the
authorized agent as represented. Con
stables have been set on, his tracks
by the McClure Pub. Co,, of New
York to try to locate the guilty party
and bring him to justice.- People
should not take chances on these wily

W Haines, a passenger travelling,
from Guelph to 'Prescott on the G. T.
R, was put off at. Whitby by .the con-
