Mr, Harry Rowe has purchased the fine large brick dwelling owned by Mr Thos Russell on Andrew street, We understand Mr, Russell will move to St. Marys, where he has made the purchase of a piece of land that he intends subdividing. Mr W. W. Taman has rented Mr, Wes Snell's house on Main Street, and will move therein shortly. The house was vacated last week by afr, H H. We are having lovely weather this fall; in fact, I never saw nicer in Ontario. A team of horses belonging to Mr. Paul Coates, Usborne became freight- ened at the Mill on Friday morning last and getting away made a lively run down Main Street, endangering lives and threatening damage all along their course, but they finally ran into Mr, Elliot's fence south of town, where they were captured little the worse for their escapade. On Sunday night last . there passed away at Lapeer, Mich., a former res- ident of Exeter, in the person of Mr. Albert Powell, aged 70 years. It well be remembered by our older residents that Mr. Powell during the greater time of his residence ' here was in tbe employof the late James Pickard, Mr. Powell is survived by his wife and their two sons. • Mrs. D. A. Ross and, son, Dr. H. P. Ross, spent Tuesday in , Clinton. They leave:•to-day* for the Doctor's borne in :Nampa, Idaho, where Mrs, Ross will reside with her son. Rev. Jeaktns of Clinton and Rev, Fothei-inghain. of Goderich claimed it was bad form to discuss the ques- tionat this meeting. Rev. Ford and Hagar of Goderich thought not, and Rev. Sharp of Exeter said he was op- posed to the campaign as it was a Conservative political move.
