Rev " Mr Snaith 'is at Toronto to at-
tend the great Convention and Gen-
era; Assembly.—A very joyous event
took place at the home of the bride's
parents, Mr, and Mrs. Nicholas Hor-
ton an June 4th, •at high noon, '.vhen
their daughter Edna Agnes was, un-
ited in marriage with Robert Patter-
terson of Rodgerville. The ceremony
wa. performed. by. Rev. Mr, Larkin
of Seaforth, The bride was . hand-
somely gowned in Bulgarian silk, trim-
ecl with cream lace. After congratu-
lations the bridal party and guests sat
down to a sumptuous, daintily served,
weddin repast, • Only the immediate
relatives of 'the .family Were present.
The bride'sgoing-away suit was oft
light grey tailored whip -cord', with
large black hat with shaded willow
plume The happy couple left Sea -
forth for Toronto, Detroit and other
points.

CLINTON—D. B. Kennedy, an old
resident and one of Clinton's nest
known citizens, died Thursday morn -
at his home in Mary Street. Mr. Ken-
nedy,served on the town council and
as reeve for several years. He was
buried on Saturday afternoon ander
the direction of the Masonic lodge.
AILSA CRAIG.—Mrs, Clark re-
ceived a telegram stating that her
sister, Miss Bertha Gilbert, formerly
of 'Ansa. Craig, but recently of Cleve-
land was in such a critical condition
after undergoing an operation that
it was feared she would not .recover.
Mrs Clark left on the first train.

years of age, and is survived by his

CRAIG.—Mrs. Thos. Scase
aged 60, was so badly hurt at her
home, June 3rd, by falling head first
from a step ladder that grave .ears
are entertained for her recovery. Her
husband was -cleaning- the chimney and
was outside on the ;roof, while hist
wife was. inside holding up, a pan to
catch the soot as it fell.

SEAFORTH,—The football match
played here Saturday between Brus-
sels and Seaforth in the intermediate
series of the W. F. A. resulted in
favor of Brussels bya score of 2
goats to 1.
CLANDEBOYE,— Friday night's
storm was the fiercest electrical storm
in this, -vicinity this season. The barns
of John Henry Lewis were totally de-
stroyed. All stock which was in the
barn. was burned to death. These"
numbered. several animals. The storm
raged: for several hears,
STANLEY—The announcement is
made of the engagement of Margaret'
a• ;daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh(
McDiarm"rd of Harpurhey, to Mr. T.
Bryden Baird of Stanley. The mar-
riage takes place this month.
SHIPKA
Mr. Matthew Thompson died quite
suddenly- May 30th, at the home of
his daughter, Mrs, John Turner of
Stephen :About a year ago the late
Mr Thompson accompanied by his
wife left his home in Port Huron to
pay a visit to Mr. and Mrs. Turner
but in a short time he was stricken
with paralysis, from which he never
recovered and which finally resulted
in his death. The remains were tak-
en to Bradshaw, near Sarnia, where
interment was made. He leaves to
mourn his demise a sorrowing widow,
two sons and three daughters, all of
whom were present except one laugh
ter in Edmonton.

The management of The Western
Fair, London, Ontario, are mailing out
their prize lists, with entry fortes

The funeral of M. O. Carey to Bid.

The deceased who was 87 years of age
began his career in Lucan in 1865 as a
telegraph operator, going from here to
Stratford as dispatcher on the G.T.R.
until 1887, when he went into the
