Kennedy, an old resident and one of Clinton's nest known citizens, died Thursday morn - at his home in Mary Street. Mr. Ken- nedy,served on the town council and as reeve for several years. He was buried on Saturday afternoon ander the direction of the Masonic lodge. AILSA CRAIG.—Mrs, Clark re- ceived a telegram stating that her sister, Miss Bertha Gilbert, formerly of 'Ansa. Craig, but recently of Cleve- land was in such a critical condition after undergoing an operation that it was feared she would not .recover. Mrs Clark left on the first train. •SEAFORTH.—Mr. Edward Dever-. eaux ever- eaux one of, the pioneers of Friday Township of McKillop, y at his home on the Huron Road, east of the town. Mr. Devereaux was 74 years of age, and is survived by his wife and a grown-up family. AILSA' CRAIG.—Mrs. Thos. Scase aged 60, was so badly hurt at her home, June 3rd, by falling head first from a step ladder that grave .ears are entertained for her recovery. F. A. resulted in favor of Brussels bya score of 2 goats to 1. CLANDEBOYE,— Friday night's storm was the fiercest electrical storm in this, -vicinity this season. The barns of John Henry Lewis were totally de- stroyed. All stock which was in the barn. was burned to death. These" numbered. several animals. The storm raged: for several hears, STANLEY—The announcement is made of the engagement of Margaret' a• ;daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh( McDiarm"rd of Harpurhey, to Mr. T. Bryden Baird of Stanley. The mar- riage takes place this month. SHIPKA Mr. Matthew Thompson died quite suddenly- May 30th, at the home of his daughter, Mrs, John Turner of Stephen :About a year ago the late Mr Thompson accompanied by his wife left his home in Port Huron to pay a visit to Mr. and Mrs. Turner but in a short time he was stricken with paralysis, from which he never recovered and which finally resulted in his death. The remains were tak- en to Bradshaw, near Sarnia, where interment was made. He leaves to mourn his demise a sorrowing widow, two sons and three daughters, all of whom were present except one laugh ter in Edmonton. THE WESTERN '.
