times elected chairman of districts,
and also as a member of the board of
examiners.
His wife was a daughter of the late
David Plerves of Toronto, and is a
•brilliant student and accomplished wri-
ter.

The home of Mr. Robert Ratcliffe,

eas Anderson narrowly escaped be-
ing burned to the ground on Sunday
afternoon, while he and his -wife were
at Sunday School. In some manner
the fire from the furnace caught a
partition, and but for quick work in
knocking the partition out the house
would have been destroyed. As it
was considerable damage was done.
