The contest in Exeter proved to be a very interesting one. The candidates and their friends were busy all day bringing in the votes with the result that a fairly large vete was polled. The ladies did,not seem very interest- ed and bet few of thein turned out., The three -cornered fight for the Reeve ship resulted in the election of Mr, A. Q. l3obiei', Councillors for 1900 ate in Order, Messrs, A. E. Poke, W. J. Rea- men, E.lwardTreble fund "Jas. Creech. For school trustees the three old trus- tees were elected, Messrs. W. J. WEDDED: -A very pretty wedding was solemnized at the home of Fred Lane, Wolseley, Sask., N.W.T., on Wednesday, Dec. 27, when Mrs. Lane's sister, Miss Lauretta Baynham, became the bride of Walter R. Thompson, a very prosperous young fartner residing near Wolseley. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Hoare in the pres- ence of immediate relatives only. The bride was attended by Miss Birdie Thompson, niece of the groom, while Mr. Harvey Lane performed the duties of groomsman. The bridalparty en- tered the parlor to the strains of the wedding march, played by : Miss Elia' Thompson, niece of groom. The cere- mony and congratulations over, the party repaired to the dining room, where a dainty wedding breakfast was. served. The presents were costly add numerous, showing the high esteem in which the young couple were held. The gr'oom's gift to the bride was a handsome gold watch and chain with name and date carved on case, to the bridesmaid a solid gold bracelet and to the groomsman gold locket with initals carved on cover. The happy couple left Thursday for their new home, carrying with them the good wishes of a host of friends. Mr. Thompson is to be congratulated on winning one of our most estimable Centralia girls for his bride, and on ac- count of her pleasing disposition she will be much missed by her young friends in this vicinity.
