DisA.THs.--'" Till death do us part."
These were the words that were spok-
en upwards of sixty years ago at the
marriage of Mr. Alexander Knox, to
Miss Mary Kincade, and death did not
separate their very long, being only
eleven days apart. Last week we re-
corded the death of Mr. Knox, which
occurred.Neee 26. This week we are
called upon to record the death of his
aged partner, whose spirit took flight
on Tuesday, Dec. 8, at the advanced
age of 95 years. Deceased had been
ailing for some time but no direct dis-
ease was the cause of death, old age
being the cause of her calling off. On
being informed of her husband's death
she was too ill that it was not thought
she grasped it. She never complained
and was always cheerful and bright
and delighted to converse with her
friends and those in attendance upon
her. In this township where she has
been a resident for about forty years
she made a host of friends; and al-
though she had passed the allotted
span of three score years and ten her
many friends are sorry to hear of her
demise. Mr. and Mrs. Knox were an
honest, industrious couple who toiled
hard together; pleasant in their' lives,
in death they were not long divided.
She leaves to mourn her demise one
son and two daughters, who have the
sympathy of the whole community.
The funeral 'took place of Thursday to
Kirkton cemetery and the remains
were laid beside those of her late hus-
band. Thus clo the pioneers who made

ACCIDENT. -The Rev. Mr. Yager met
with an accident a few days ago which
we regret to say, may confine him to
the house for two or three weeks to
come. The Rev. gentleman was in the
flour mill at the time securing a piece
of wire screen for some part of his
furnace, and when descending from
the upper floor to the engine room by
means of a ladder, slipped and fell to
the cetnentfloor below, spraining one
of his legs badly. It is unfertunate,as
he was remarkably busy, being engag-
ed in holding sPecial services, which
he has had to give up,: at leastfor some
time so come.
DEATH of Mits. Oeenee--:Chis week
it becomes our melancholy duty to re-
cord the death of another of our oldest
pioneer residents, in the person of Mrs.
Mary Ann Clark, who died at the resi-
dence of her daughter, Mrs. Fletcher,
near Kirkton, on Wednesday of this
week, at the age of Sri years, 1 month.
Mrs. Clark had enjoyed her usual
health up to Thursday last, when a
general breaking -up of the system set
in and gradually growing worse she
passed away. Deceased was a native
of Devonshire, England, and came to
Canada with her husband, who prede-
ceased her about 36 years, in 1848 and.
settled in the township of •t sborne,
tvhere she has made her home ever,
since. Being among the early settlers'.
and possessed of a remarkable consti-
tution she endured many of the bard -
ships incident to pioneer life -in fact
she suffered more hardships and en-
dured more privations than the aver-
age pioneer, but with all she was al-
ways cbeertnl and happy and seemed
to be content with her lot. Deceased
was highly respected for her good
qualities both of heart and head and
her many friends will regret to hear of
demise, notwithstanding that she had
passed the alloted span of life. She
leaves to mourn her demise a grown-
up family of three sons and three
daughters -James of London; Thomas
and William and Mrs. Fletcher, Us -
borne; Mrs. Wm. Sawyer and u Mrs.
Wesley Mills, Blanshard. The f neral
takes place to the Elimville cemetery
to -morrow (Friday.)
