W. T. C. Notes.
The Woman's Christian Union has
three missionaries engaged in active
work, viz -Miss Sproule, Me, J. S.
Leckie and Mr. Arthur Beale. The
work accomplished in the districts of
Algoma and Muskoka alone for one
year is almost incredible. Number
of miles traveled 6620, homes visited.
530, lumber camps visited 161, public
meetings held 352, papers distributed
12580, leaflets 10071, books 880, comfort
bags 613, testaments 136. Mr. Leckie,
missionary in Muskoka and Nipissing
Districts, writes: -"In the last camp
I visited, I met a young man, who I
am sure, bas something good in the
future before him, he was converted
in camp from reading a tract sent in
one of the comfort bags. He told me
he had just asked the Lord to give
him favor in the eyes of his compan-
ions, among whom he had lived a life
of sin and lawlessness for six or seven
years. He wanted to prove to them
that Jesus was able to save to the
uttermost."
"The young man has already ex-
emplified the beauty of the Christian
life that one after another of the men
have spoken of the wondroos change."
"Yon know I was -the first mission-
ary to live among these men, and the
camps now open to others, were closed
to preachers, and how -wehad. to 'pray
and plan for an extratice, now they
give us all a hearty welcome.,"
"At one of the banips visited, on'
going to the stable to get my horse,
I foond a little 'en Wry meetin
among the boys, two t iern were most
•
anxious about thensouls, Xprayea
with them, and at least into one heart,'
'the peace which passeth all under-
standing' came that night."
Every year a number are hopefully
converted. In fifty camps Mr.. Leckie
has established Sunday evening song
services that are regularly kept u.
p.
in many camps, by the testitaany of
the managers, the whole tone of mor-
ality has changed.
The next regular W:C.T.U. meeting
will be held in the. ,reading room on
April 1st commencing at 'half past
three. .
