NEW SCALE OP POSTAL RATES.
On and. after July 1 a revised scale

Dominion aud Provincial Governments
and of municipal authorities, now sub-
ject to the one -cent per two ounces
rate, the rate shall he two cents for

ent rate one cent for each two ounces.
On all matter other than newspapers,
wholly printed or lithographed (in -
eluding circulars, catalogues, pamph-
lets, books, etc.,) the rate shall be one

four ounces or fraction. On drawings,

Toronto, June 17. --The rush
of settlers into the Rainy
River valley following the completion of
the Canadian Northern Railway bas led
the Government to throw open for set-
tlement all the remaining surveyed town -
slaps in that region. Those affected by
the order in Council are the Townships
of Spolm, Pratt, Sutherland, Sifton, Ma-
ther and Kingsford. These constitute
the rear tier of the surveyed land north
of the river. In this area the official
reports state there is eau& excellent
land, though in some cases it will re-
quire drainage before it eau be used pro-
fitably. This order will make a -OW
of 28 townships open in the Rainy River
valley, each comprising about 23,000
acres, or 644,000 acres in all.
