April 29.—The revolver that young, Sharp carried yesterday whenn be shota t Beatrice Holland, was found 10 Owe parts—one in the school basement also the other parts some distance front the street. Tbe weapon was bought at tai second-hand store. Sharp declares tae lutd been shooting frogs and be thought the revolver was unloaded when he drew it to frighten the girl. The girl never spoke after the bullet pierced her brain. Her mother reach- ed her side before death ascitic, Au lis- tened was opened this afternoon, when tl+e evidence of school children, teach_ ers, police and doctors was heard, The lied shot the girl without saying a word. It was shown that he was a live! lad, whose hind was Ailsa with. the deeds of dime novel heroes, He was not really vicious, but played smut. The teacher had taken from him the pernicious literature of the Jesse James type. The jury beard the evidence of young McDermott, who denied having purchased the revolver, but it was later established that he did, A second-hand dealer gave evidence, but of no importance. The jury re- turned a verdict of -eccident4tl homi- cide. They believed the boy did not think the. revolver was loaded. The jury also called attention to the need of closer inspection of second-hand stores, and more stringent enforcement of the law regarding the sale and car- rying of weapons. sh?salol ,e fed 1i, ---4 Ea 3•:¢4.4'7 Zs \ Dgillana-t' and fruit growers especially will have but 1v t'•11.' t4'i'a's in 4 OliSegliel1eR of the visitations i, Mr. 1I. Is it not time thatsome- thing was done to suppress the elec- tion of members of parliament in all parts of Canada by machine methods? This is undoubtedly the worst case ever brought to light in Canada. DO NOT BE DECEIVED. The people of Ontario must not al- low themselves to be deceived by the yatch cries of Hon. G. W. Ross and his :followers, who denounce Mr. J. P. Whitney as a man without a policy. 3Ir. Whitney has a clearly defined platform, which calls for the reform of the many evils existing in Ontario. He has advocated measures in the past for the betterment of the laws of his prov- ince, but Mr. Ross saw these attempts at improvements were voted down. Later when public sentiment declared Itself in favor of Mr. Whitney' propos- als, Mr. Ross cooly stole the opposition gunpowder and used it to exploit gov- ernment interests. But even after - many of the importaint items of his policy have been pocketed by Mr. Ross and his colleagues; Mr. Whitney has still a lot of reforms which will be introducedafter his return to power on May 29th. - The'eee olicy cry is a herring drawn across the the trail to direct attention fromthe election crimes condoned, by Mr. Ross; Mr: Dryden's Dakota ranch; the .presenta- tionbf Ontario's pulp lands. to party favorites, the - confining'` of harmless lunatics in the jails of Toronto; the school book ,Monopoly; the annual de- ficits iof the province; and many other regretable instances in the record of thirty years Liberal rule in the ptnv- inee.. Electors are asked to investi- gate for themselves, and if they will enquire, they will find that Mr, progressive Whit- ' rogre Eley has a policy which.ip g • in every sense of the word. If it is asthma, bronchitis, croup, or any the ),orthwet;l, South Africa, and elle noted States has greatly reduced the supply of help required at this season of the year, and farmers are practical- ly dependent on their awn resources. The men that arrive from the 01d Country require two or three years' edneation before they are competent' to perform the work required of them. The ultimate result will be that fa>;3n-' eis will have to reduce their holdings, and instead of attempting to cultivate a large area of land will confine their efforts to smaller farms. A more thor ough and scientific system will follow. to et The Stratford Herald of last week says: -There are now the best 'pros- pects for activity in the development of the peat industry in Ellice, as the result of a new company taking hold of the enterprise, with capital sufficient to push it, which was lacking in the first attempt. A company- is now in process of incorporation to be known as the Stratford Peat Co., Limited, with authorized capital of $40,000, under provincial charter. Among the men interested are Dr. D. A. McPherson and Messrs. F. H. and H E. Hurlburt, Toronto, the latter having been on the spot for the last month and being in- tended for the manager of the com- pany's business. The new company has acquired Mr. Ardagh's plant and 150 acres of bog and will no doubt in time greatly increase the bog holdings. The oldplant had. a capacity of seven or eight tons a day—insufficient to create and supply amarket. By put- ting in new machinery, especially a new dryer and a new press, it is intend- ed to reach quickly a daily capacity of 25 tons, while before fall it is expected 50 tons daily output will be reached. Mr. Ardagh was troubled by the fickle weather in drying his peat, for which he employed the sun, and rains ineped- ed the manufacture •seriously. The new company by means of their dry- ing machinery will be able in about twenty-four hours to turn the raw bog product into- peat ready for combus- tion, The.new machinery ombustion:'•The.new•machinery is expected to arrive in a couple of weeks and meanwhile other work is being advanc- ed vigorously, including the erection of'a new boarding-bouse for the men, of whom quite a number will necesser ily be employed and it is expected that in about a month a good start will have been made at actual manufactur- ing. The mecbinery to be employed will be chiefly new, a portion of Mr, Ardag'h's being discarded. The new company by providing for a large and quick output figure that they will have no trouble to develope a large business and to keep up a regular supply of this cheap and useful f uel. The enterprise is warmly welcomed locally, as there has all along been every confidence that the peat enterprise promises good rewards to its efficient prosecution, while' the t ty and country roundabout will re;Ali great ;4 lvaantage from the such trouble, use•Yapo•Cresoletle, A11Druggists, 1 supplyof an economical home fuel,. QUESTION ANSWERED. Yes, AngustFlower still has the hog - est sale of any medicine in the civilized world. Your mothers and grandmoth- ers never thought of using anytthing else for indigestion or Billiousness. Doctors were scarce, and they seldom heard of appendicitis, Nervous Pros- tration, Heart failure, etc. They used August Flower to clean out the system and stop fermentation of undigested.I food, regulate the action of the liver, stimulate the nervous and organic ac- tion of the system, and that is all they look when feeling dull and bad. with headaches and other aches. You only need a few doses of Greens' August Flower, in liquid form, to make you satisfied there is nothing serious the matter with you. You can get Dr. G. G. Green's at C.
