of Exeter, after several months of the
antiquated lainp system of lighting,
the electric lights were put in opera-

are not probably up to the standard at
present, owing to the xnachinery being
new, the change is indeed a most grat-
ifying one. The plant throughout is
entirely new and 'thoroughly up-to-
date in every respect, therefore can-
not help but give the best of satisfac-

What might have resulted in a fa-
tal accident happened to Mr. Isaiah
Hall, an employe at the Exeter tan-
nery, one day last week. He was wor-
king around some machinery in mo-
tion and in some manner accidentally
got his clothing caught, Despite his
efforts to ' extricate himself he was
drawn in and as his clothes became
more and more entangled he was toss-
ed and thrown with terrible violence
until it almost seemed certain that he
would lose his life. However, his
`clothing eventually gave away and he
was released from his perilous posi-
tion little the worse for his unpleasant
experience.

Mr. Chas. Knight, one of the most
popular station agents on the Grand
Trunk, has resigned his position here
owing to declining health, and the
Grand Trunk officials have wisely ap-
pointed Mr, John Knight, operator, to
fill the vacancy caused, by his father's
retirement. Mr. C. Knight was one
of the oldest agents on the road, hav-
ing spent nearly all his life in the ser-
vice of the G.T.R., thus he is entitled
to that rest which so long and faithful
service so justly merits. The newly
appointed agent is a young man of
good qualities and fully competent to
fulfill the duties that now devolve up-
on him. We wish him every success
