The puples of No 11, McGillivray,
prepared a programme compTleted
of readings, recitations, dia.loges,
sort S, t1Sle and scenes to entertain
each nlother on the last afternoon before
school closed. About 1.30 p. m. a
number front the Sec+tion and some of
the teachers friends gathered. Mr.
Polton, of Manitoba, took the chair
and performed his work well, After
the first part taf the programme was
rendered Mr. Bennetts 111his becoming
manner, introduced Mr. Santa Clause
with a park, the contents of which he
distributed among pupils and strain -
gees; leaving again he returned with
another peek, and o11 returning a
second time brought with him a hand-
some rocking chair, and presented it
to the teacher, Mr. R. J. Hamilton,
who was taken wholly by surprise.
Our teacher made 't short, suitable
speech in reply, thanking Santa very
much for his kindness towards hint.
After Santa had amused the audience
for some.: tune he left hexing a treat
at the door for all to help' themselves
as they went out. The pupils deserve
great praise for their ability as enter-
tainers and their parents have reason
to be proud of theta. Mr. Hamilton is
re-engaged for the year 1900 at stn in-
ct eased salary.

young town has not been regularly
represented through the coltnns of the
Advocate, we will endeavor for the
future to eenti in the news from week
to week. --Our town is now.lit up with
electricity and can boast of a whole-
sale and retail dry goods establish-
Inellt, two first class grocery stores, a
blacksmith and repair shop, a Katy .arid
planing mill, a lumber yard, two brick
and tile yards, an organ pipe factory,
and also a first class water power feed

Miles, who has been employed with
Mr. $ashau, took his flight in the
middle of the night and left some sot
rowing friends. -Several froln this
vicinity attended the Christmas tree
held by the Presbyterians, Thursday
night last at Grand Bend. They re-
port having a good time. -The Rev.
Moses Honnclrich, of Elkton, Mich.; has
been holding special services in the
Methodist church, here for the past
few weeks. -hiss M. O'Brien spent
Christiansat home. Mr. Rowe, car-
penter, is spending his holidays visit-
ing his. family. -Mrs. Thos. Brown,
who has been visiting her brother,
Mr. D. Wilson, left for Winnipeg,
Manitoba, where she is going to Coln
her husband -Mr. J. Drawn, of Betide -
field; spent Christmas in these pearts.
Wonder what for ?-A young son of
Mr. R. O'Brien, had the misfortune to
fall on Friday Iasi while playing at
