Notwithstanding the fact that imita-

Those who have the zniefortunte to try
any of the inferior dyes sold by some
dealers know well how deceptive they
prove. The users are utterly dsheart-

mon dyes show muddy and dell et•dors,

The Diamond Dyes, simple and easy
to use, have zt standard of excellency
that no others can approach. They
give true, uniform and lie results
when used in the tnension or cottage.
Bright, dear and brilliant cans are
obtained on all kinds of goods -when
the plain directions are followed.
Do not be deceived by any other

Mere Than Desultory Cannonade at
Ladysmith ou Wednesday.
London, Nov, 21.-0 A.m.)--The reports of
the heavy fighting at Ladysmith last Wed-
nesday have not been continued. )it the
eontrary the tuost reliable advices from
Estcourt indicate that there was oothing
mere than a desultory cannonade. Prob-
ably the rumor of a serious engagement
glow out of the faer that the Boers threw
a few harmless lienlate Tuesday night,
leading to the supposttion than au attant
was imminent. Nothing, however, hup-
pened Wednesday.
Beyond the fact that the Boers are daily
receiving fresh reinforcements and sup-
plies, there is practically nothing new from
the front.
The Boer InNeision of Cape Colony con-
tinues steadily and rapidly. There are 1.00
Boers in Colesburg, and news has evaebed

fighting took plate.

The War Office semisofficially assoets
that all news received from Africa has been
published, with the exception of de 111;111,113
for the renewal of stores, war material and
the like. There is an unconfirmed rumor
that more troops have beeu ordered from
India to the Cape.
The plan of operations on 110th SitIOS is
slowly unfolding itself. Gen. Joubert Is
evidently moving south to prevent, if pos-
sible, the junction of the British relieving
force with the fore s at Esteourt and Lady-
smith, while on the Orauge River ()order
the Boers are believed to be concentrating
at Donkerpoort to oppose Gen. Buller's od-
vances. 11 18 said that 6000 Boet,s. have al-
ready laagered at Donkerpoort.
A Three -Fold. Advance,
The English plan seems to be a three -ford
edvance-from Durban to Ladysmith, from
Orange River to Kimberley and from Beet
London by way of Queenstown to Burgherh-
dorm Gen. Buller has wired the command-
ing ofScer at Queenstown annouucing the
despatch of Gem Gatacre, with the lst Bat-
talion of the Seventh Brigade to East Lon-
don. This was the Place from which It
was originally Intended tbat Gen. Gatacre's
column should start. Thus, It is possible that
Gen. Buller's first plans have .suftered less
modification then some have supposed.
Gen. Gatacre will be able to keep the
Boers on the Orange border soffit:Muttsoc-
