DEATH of GEORGE PENHALE.-It
will be sad news for many to learn of
the death of George Penhale, son of
the late John Penhale, which occurred
on Tuesday evening last shortly after
Zurich
It seems as if we are on the move
for the Torrid Zone. Beautiful weath-
er, a few good showers of rain and

about four weeks ago when he was tak-
en with an attack of typhoid fever and
later inflammation of the lungs, which
soon ebbed his life away, and he
passed peacefully over to the silent
majority on the above date. The
deceased was highly respected in
the community and his many friends
will learn with regret of his death.
Had he lived two days longer he would
have been 29 years of age: The funer-
al takes place from his mother's resi-
dence, Lake Road, to -day (Thursday)
at 2 o'clock. The mother and bereav-
ed family have the sympathy of a
large circle of friends.

merman, of the Goshen Line, was
united in marriage to Mr. Allin,. of

Shipka on Tuesday evening, they were
attacked by some of the Grand Bend

Parkhill: Mr. Thomas East, a for-
mer resident of Parkhill, dies. at Nor-
folk, Vat, on Friclay last. Mn Bost
had a !brickyard in the North part of
Parkhill for several ;years and was
known to many in the town and taw -
rounding country. At the time of his
dearth the wall it member of the Parkhill
Tent of the Maccabees.
Wingham; The death of Miss Helen
Helm occurred at the residence of :lir.
Peter Deans on Monday. She had been.
ill for the past four weeks with perni-

Mn Deans for the past ten year's. She
was a daughter of the late Thos. Helm
who kept hotel in Witighal.m many

Varna: On Monday as Mr. Thomas
Me,Ash was helping at the raising of
the Presbyterian church sheds here,
ahndasthe roof WAS being raised up and
supported by a prop, :lir. AleAsh was
jest going cinder when the prop broke
and the roof fell, striking hem on the
head and back. Ile was pretty badly
hart, but at the time of the writing is
doing nicely and we !hope to see him
around again in a few days.
St. Marys: Tuesday evening, Nov.
7th, at the family residence, Toronto,
Miss Emma H. Watt, of Toronto,
daughter of the late James Watt, of
St. Marys, was united in niarriage to
the Rev. W. V. Easton, M.A., pastor
of the Park avenue Methodist church.
Minneapolis, Minn. The Rev. Dr. Bur -
wash, assisted by Rev. A. Fitzpatrick,
M.A., officiated. Owing to the recent
death of the bride's mother, the wed. -
ding was a quiet one.
Winghanha The death of W. K. El-
lott, senior member of the Elliott Fur-
niture Co., of Carman, Man., occurred
at the residence of Mr. C. M. Walker
on Friday. Deceased was in his 40th
year. Be came to Wingham about a
month ago to recuperate his health
and had been a guest at Mr. Walker's.
He has been suffering from a tumor
on the brain but was not thought ser-
ious. He was ont driving. on Thursday
afternoon. On Friday he was not as
well as usual and a physician was sum-
monded, no immediate serious results
were anticipated but about noon he
died very suddenly.
Stanley: A very interesting event
took place last Wednesday evening at
the residence of Alr. and Mrs. James
Turner, Parrline, Stanley, being the
occasion of thernarriage of their daugh-
ter, Miss Sarah Almira, to Mr. Francis
Coleman, The ceremony was perform-
ed by Rev. S. Acheson in the presence
of the immediate relatives of the con-
tracting parties. After congratula-
tions, the guests sat down to a sump-
tuous dinner prepared for the occas
sion. A very enjoyable evening was
spent. Thepresents werehandsomeand
and appropriate. The young couple are
highly respected and have bright pros-
pects before them.
Blake: Mr. James Delgaty has mov-
ed onto his fathers farm, where he in-
tends to start farming. He has also
been engaged to teach the Goshen
line 8!'1001 for the coming year.
Seaforth: On Thursday Thornton,
the little son of Mr. Fred Howard met
with a painful accident. The little.
fellow was playing with a stick, when
he accidentally fell, causing the stick
to penetrate his cheek.
St. Toseph: The mammoth block is
now lip two stories: There is still an-
other story to build. The work is be-
ing meshed rapidly forward by the
contractor, Mr. .Beshau, and he ex-
pects to have the brick work :conlplet
ed in about two weeks, if the weather
holds fine.

ork, The young couple will reside
at Key West, Florida. of which place
M1. Curtis is as prominent accountant.
Miss Blake, who was a professional
nurse and for some time matron of the
London House for Incurables, was
made the recipient of many handsome
presents by her friends.
