It turned out that Mrs. Dave son, at the request of her - husband, so it is alleged, borrowed $275 from the Holtby bank, and a warrant was issued for her arrest, it being claimed that the money was got under misrepresenta tion. Hardy went into one of the bedrooms and slashed his throat with a razor.. Ho was found not loug atter by a boarder, lying on a bed, with blood streaming from the wound. Tho doctors think Hardy will recover, although the wound is a severe one. Richard 'Nichol Arrested.. - Hamilton, Dec. 27, -Yesterday Richard Niobol, a young man, was arrested on a charge of receiving stolen property. Niobol was wearing one ,of the eight overcoats stolen from Morris Harris, tailor, about two months ago. Shortly afterwards Detectives Reid and Campbell recovered some stolen coats in a house on Hess street, but they did not catch the thief. The prisoner says he has no knowl- edge of the crime. Hugh Brown, the man who found the money lost from the body of Wil Liam Munness of Toronto at the Mur- ray Hill wreck, was found guilty of fraudulently misappropriating the money, and was sentenced by Judge Lazier, of Belleville, to four months in the county jail Robert King, a former hotelkeepere was arrested at Paisley by Pinkerton men from Chicago, and remande'i by Judge Barrett for extradition proceed- ings next Saturday. He is charged with passing a forged draft for $550 on a bank at Rock Rapids, Iowa, but it is understood there are other charges against him.
