Medical. Inspection and School Nurse
. There has already been , a medical
inspection ' about Blyth, Auburn,
'Wingham, and the townships adja-
cent, with a, view to the permanent
engagement ofa school nurse for de-
fined districts; this preliminary in-
spection will be extended to the
whole county and is being done en-
tirely at
n-tirely•at the expense of the,Govern-
ment. The purpose is to safeguard
the health of the children and to
remedy defects before disease' or
weakness have ruined their' constitu
tion. A- large part of the perman-
ent expense would .be borne by the
Government;. the cost perr school
would be about $25, not a large sunt
if lase purposes are fulfilled. •
Adolescent School Attendance Act
Has Crowded the Schools
The Adolescent School Attendance
Act came intoactiveo erate n in
September.. So far as this inspect-,
deerat isconcerned, a it has had little
eet on the public schools, as con-
tinuation and,''high 'schools are . so
evenlyand g ously distributed.
that the majority "of' pupils can at-
tend these schools for most of the
year, and still be at home for most,
of . the year, night and morning.
This circumstance and the moral ef-
fect of the act: have caused such an
increase in the attendance, that all
'the schools are crowded. to .capacity
and additional building accommoda-

little hesitation in paying the higher
