No other medicine ever possessed so much curative power, or reached such enormous sales, or Inacle such won- derful cures, as Hood's Sar'sapar'illa. It is undoubtedly the best medicine ever made to purify, vitalize and en, rich the blood. That is the secret of its success. Read this statement: "When my son was 7 years of age, he had rheumatic fever and acute rheuma- tism, which settled in his left hip. He was so sick that no one thought there was. any help for him. Five sores broke out on his thigh, which the doctor said were sores. We had three different doctors. Pieces of bone came out of the sores. The last doctor said the leg would have to be cut open and the bone scraped, before he could get well. Howard became so low that he would eat nothing, and one doc- tor said there was no chance for him, "One day, a newspaper recommending Hood's Sarsaparilla was left at our door. We decided to try this medicine. Howard commenced talcing it the last of February, after having been sick for a year and a half. He hadn't taken It a week before I saw that his appetite began to improve, and then he gained rapidly. I gave him five bottles, when the sores were all healed and they never broke out again. The crutches he had used for four years were laid aside, as he had. no further use for them. I give all the credit to Flood's Sar- saparilla." MRs. An.. L. MOODY, Fay Street, Lynn, Mass. A NEW INDUSTRY, ADig -Bed of Pyrites Doing Worked Near Schreiber -A Basis for Manufacture or sulphuric Aeid. Port Arthur, ,Tuna 21.-A new indus- try is about to be established on the north shore of Lake Superior, about ono and one-half miles from the Canadian Pacific Railway, at Schreiber, and about the same distance from the great lake. A year or two ago a body of pyrites was struck. Last year the Messrs. Mor- ley, shipowners, of Detroit, spent $3,000 or $4,000 in stripping the vein, erecting buildings and cutting a wagon road. to Schreiber. Quite .recently they had an expert go overthe property who exam- ined it and pronounced it to be the great- est bed of pyrites that he had ever seen, 3'our correspondent saw it recently and was very much impressed with the size and value of the ore body. A recent re- port, which I am able to confirm, is that the Davis Sulphur Ore Company, of Davis, Mass., have purchased the mine and . will this week commence active operations. This pyrites is used in the manufacture of sulphuric acid, and it is very, rarely that a body of ore as pure as this is found. It contains over 50 per cent.of sulphur, and is absolutely free burning. There is said to be no other deposit of equal purity in America. It is expected that ore docks will have to be built and a tramway from the 'nine to Lake Superior in order to reduce the Dost of shipment to the .lowest possible amount, and if the expectations of the owners are realized, the importance 'of the nine will be quite in keeping with t, The iron urine. oro is found in a sinilinr manner to what iron ore is, and it contains practically nothing but iron ore and sulphur. &%r Bead in Exeter and everywhere in ()aneda.by all responsible Druggists. THE FIRE RECORD. Almost Two Million Feet of Lumber Dern. ed at Muskoka Wharf -Other Fires. Woodstock, June 21.-A barn belonged to Mr. Frederick Hill, Finkle street, was totally destroyed by fere early this more ing. It is supposed that the fire was the result of tramps sleeping on the straw in the building, Mr. Hill estimates his. loss at $1,000, only partially covered by insurance. Muskoka Wharf, June 20,• -Fire broke out in R. Thomson & Co.'s lumber yard here shortly after e o'clock this evening, and got good headway before a stream of water could be made to play on it, but the town fire engine and the steam pumps of the Rathbun Company, and Mickie, Dyntent & Son's shills. and the G.T.R. hand engines succeeded in pre- venting it from making rapid headway, checking it aintost completely. Assistance was telegraphed for from Allendale, Barrie and Orillia, which was promptly responded to, and arrived at 0.25 p.an., when the fire was got under complete control, but was stili vory hot at 11 o'clock. The cause of the fire is supposed to be incendiary, as a small shanty was burned near the same place only a few. days ago. Tho principal losers are R. Thomson & Co. of Hamilton, D. Shier, of Bracebridge, R. 0. Miller and P. Bartholowniew, of Gravenhur'st, and Thomas Baker, of London. The first two firths sustained the largest part of the loss, both of which carried insurance, about two million feet of lumber being burnt. Later. -The loss by to -night's' fire is estimated at $40,000, about three million feet of the best quality of ltunber being destroyed. Iteloased on Bail. Blyth, June 19. -The preliminary ex- ainlnation of S. Jessops ,&c Co., will come up before the Police Magistrate at Goderich on Friday next. The prison- ers were brought before Polibe Magis- trate Seeger to -day and admitted to bail in bonds of $2,000 each. The hearing will commence at 11 o'alook on Friday morning. Mr. J. R. Shaw, who will con duct the case for the creditors, will leave for Goderich early next week to prepare the evidence. English W. C. T. U. Delegates. Spald- ing, ex -President of the Defunct Globe Savings Bank, and ex -Treasurer of the State University, was to -day acquittecl of the charge of embezzlement. The verdict was a general surprise, as the instruc- tions of the court to the jury left scarcely any chance for an acquittal. The first words uttered by Spalding atter the ver- dict had been read in court were, "Weil, this a surprise." The jurors could not become reconciled to the proposition that the ex -Treasurer of the University of Illinois intentionally embezzled the bonds of that institution. There are still 27 indictments hanging over hila, and he will be tried again. Relations With Canada.
