Depends upon keeping the blood in a
pure condition, free from disease germs,
and yet there are very few people who
have perfectly pure blood. Hood's
Sarsaparilla cleanses, vitalizes and en-
riches the blend, throwing out the
impurities that clog and irritate the
system and permits 'no lodgment of the
seeds of disease. Read the following:
"I cannot recommend Hood's Sarsapa-
rilla too highly for it has done wonders
for me. I was
s
c
and all run down and my health was so
poor I could not get out of doors. I was
not able to do anything, being troubled
with asthma and heart disease. I was
nervous and could not sleep nights. I
had become completely discouraged when
I happened to read an advertisement of
Hood's Sarsaparilla and concluded to give
it a trial. After taking the first bottle I
felt better and since taking five bottles I
am so much improved that I feel like a
new man. I am now able to do a fair
day's work and sleep

at night. My heart does not trouble me
and I have realized great relief for asthma.
I feel full of courage once more and life
seems brighter and worth living. I would
recommend Hood's Sarsaparilla to all
afflicted as I have been, for I know it will
help them. If this statement of facts
will be of benefit, you are welcome to use
it as you please." HENRY J. WRIGHT.

RUSSELL LIBEL SUIT.
'YA'v Death of Defendant Hast --Said to Rave
Left a Statement.
London, Dec. 14. --The death in prison
of East, one of the four defendants in
the Hneell-Scott criminal libel suit, is
likely to have an important effect on the
result of the triaL Lady Scott now de-
clares that she relied chiefly on East to
justify the abominable accusations she
made against her son-in-law, and that
his death greatly weakens her ease. Lady
Scott herself is lying 111 with a oomplioa-
tion of bronchitis and threatened brain
fever, the ordeal of the trial and its seri-
ons possibilities for her having under-
mined her health. In the first clay of his
illness East diotated a statement concern-
ing the charge against Earl Russell,
which will be produced on the resump-
tion of the trial after Christmas. This
statement is reported to be a retraction,
but as it remains in the hands of the pri-
son authorities, nothing authentic can be
ascertained respecting its nature. If it
is a retraction it will bring the suit to a
sudden and sensational and.
An inquest into the death of Fred.
East was held yesterday. One of the wit-
nesses testified that before his death,
which resulted from pneumonia, East
declared that everything be had said re-
garding Earl Russell was true.
Lord Russell's solicitor, who was
present at the inquest, protested against
the admission of this witness and eve',
donee.
SENTENCES PASSED.
Clark Sent Down for Five Years --Bradley
to Spend Ono Year in Jail -
Brampton, Dee, 14.—Court resumed
at 1 p. in., yesterday, when the two
sons of Bradley, John T. and Wm. G.,
were formally arraigned on the charge
of unlawfully receiving goods, and, on
motion of the Crown Attorney, ,fudge
McGibbon directed the jury to find a
verdict of "not guilty." The second
charge against John A. Bradley, of
obtaining goods under false pretences,
was likewise withdrawn, Crown At-
torney McFadden offering no evidence.
Judge McGibbon then proceeded to
sentence Clark, and iu the course of it
he highly complimented Detective
Heffernan for the fair and impartial
moans he had employed in unearthing a
great wrong.
The judge gave the prisoner, Clark,
five years on all three counts, two of
forgery and tine of conspiracy. Clark's
counsel, Mr. Blain made a strong plea
for leniency.
Before the judge passed sentence on
Bradley, Mr. Morphy. his counsel, plead-
ed for mercy, and characterized Bradley
as a poor tool in the hands of Clark, and
a man who had not a dollar in the
world. The judge referred to the strong
recommendation of the jury, and a peti-
tion received. Bradley was given one
year in Peel county gaol.

Paine's Celery Compound feel compell-
ed to make public statements with a
view of benefiting other sufferers.
Cured people gratefully contribute im-
portant testimony in order that the
sick and afflicted may cease spending
money for wothless preparations that
can never effect a cure. Truthful
letters coming from reliable people,who
testify to the worth of Paine's Celery
Compound, have a mighty influence
for good, and are fully appreciated by
thinging men and women,
Mr. Jas. Cossaboom, jr., of Tiverton,

from them, At last I was advised to
use Paine's Celery Compound, and be-
fore I had finished'the first bottle I ex-
