The contention that the majority in Manitoba ought to rule in educational matters, is a clear and simple one, whether it is right «or wrong. But it Seems to involve a similar proposition in respect to other 'proviuees. When Mr. Clarke Wallace, or Mr, Dalton. Me- Carthy, or Dr.Sproule or Rev. Dr. De- ,rut claim this privilege for the ma- jority in Manitoba, they suggest the question whether the majority should not rule in Ontario and Quebec. On- tario has a separate school system and there, has been no attempt on the part of Rev. Dr. Dewart or Mr. Mulock, or Ron George W. Ross, or Mr Charlton to get rid of it. Yet these men all hold. that separate schools are theoretically wrong, They Safi?l not deny that a :arge majority of the people of Ontario would perfer a sectarian school system. The majority in. Ontario do not give the force of law to their educational views. . If this is hecaluse they do not wish to impose their views upon the minority, then they would he expected! to show some consideration for the minority in another province. If :hey would. like to abolish separate schools at home but consider themselves motel 'hound to adhere to he compact o u:liou, or iega iy hound by the letter of the Union Act, tbi;n the majority does act have its way in cdncationa: matters _.• 4 ,ate ria. it mar be true that the separate -,E•Jeio s of Qatari() are ;guaranteed by t:ac' f".t ....Ft. ., • t...' =r h tii.r , is r rm r:r aogr ....,..~ .7 aha _ _n.rary • Da:._ ata aararaaaa-a.
