Brinsles : A very aerioas and pain- ful accident occurred on the farm of Mr. Wm, Hardy on Tuesday last. It appears Mr. Hardy went to the stable to water one of his horses, and as he was going into the stall the horse sud- denly sprang forward and kicked him, striking him on the left leg a few inch es above the knee, breaking the bone. Ile was immediately removed to his house and medical aid summoned. It was found that the bone was badly shattered and the flesh badly bruised. As Mr. Hardy is a man who is past middle age and who for the last few yeas has not had very good health, it will undoubtedly be a long time before he is able to be around again. Eleven witnesses were examined, the evidence going to show that deceased had been a victim of apoplexy and that he had on Thursday evening taken an unusual quantity of morphine pills, and a number of Sed- letz povvders during the day. There was nothing to prove where he had se- cured the morphine. The jury brought in the verdict "That the said Geo, Con- stable died during the night of May 9th or the morning of May 10th from apoplexy and morphine poisoeing, said morphine being administered by Ms own hand."
