We have much pleasure in noting
the success of Exeter's coming M,D.'s
in the persons of John W. Harrison,
Robt. Ferguson, Garnet Hyndman, all
having passed the fit st term et the re-
cent medical examinations of the West-
ern University at London. May their
success continue,
Death of rit es. John Bissett
Mrs, John Bissett, who for many
weeks has suffered intensely, passed to
the groat beyond ou Monday last at the
age of 71 years and 9 months De-
ceased was a hardy person until about
a year ago when she was afflicted with
la grippe, and since that time has had
seyeral sick spells, Aoout two months
ago she was taken with severepains
coursing up and down one of her legs
which compelled, her to take her bed.
Medical aid was at once summoned
when it wa3 found that she had a se-
voro attack of gangrene, which grade•
ally grew worse and consequently end-
ed her life, She has taken very little
nourishment since her affliction and
has been unconscious nearly ever since.
She leaves to mourn her demise a
husband and one son. The latter being
Mr, John Bray, of Wroxeter. The fun-
eral took place yesterday (Wed,)

SUDDEN DEATH.—Many in our midst
were surprised to learn or the sudden
death of Mrs Win. McDougall jr, of
Tuckersmith, whose spirit took its
flight on Tuesday morning, the 20th
inst. Mrs._ McDougall had not been
feeling very well for some days, but
nuthing serious was anticipated, On
Tuesday morning Mr. McDougall got
up as usual, and before goiinn out
spoke to his wife. When he returned
he found that she had passed away.
The d'ceased was a consistent member
of St, Andrews' church and lived the
life of a Christian woman She leaves
a sorrowing husband and one daugh
ter to mourn her demise.

About forty Maccabees turned out
last Tuesday and cut over thirty cords'
of wood for Sir Knight Henry Luther.
—Mr. James Brophey hada wood bee
last week.—Rev. Krup, of Dashwood,
conducted the services in the Boston
Methodist church on Good Friday.—A
large number turned out to hear him.
His sermon was interesting and
highly instrmctive.--A number of
the Orangemen of 219 turned out last
week and cut a nice ;Aloof wood for Mr.
Henry Billing who has been sick for a
number of weeks. He is able to be
out again.—Mr. John Stinson and his
mother, of Ripley, are visiting friends
here this week.—Mr, James Brophey,
our fisherman, presented our post -map -
ter with a nice string of fresh fish last
week.—Mr. Geo. Foster, of Grand Bend
and his sister of Varna and Miss.
cf Grand Bend, paid their friends here,
a flying visit last Monday evening.-
Our Dative band has retired during
the cold snap. They will give an open
air concert shortly.—Mr. A. M. Wilson
went to Thorndale last week.—A num-
ber of our leading farmers received
the nineteenth annual report of the
Ontario Agricultural College. It is, a
valuable book and full of information
that every farmer ought to be interes-
ted in.

The Crediton spring show for the ex-
hibition of entire stock will be h'ld in
this village on Wednesday, April llth.
Liberal. prizes will be offered for com
petition and the prospects are that this
will be a successful fair. It is hoped
there will be a large attendance both
of exhibitors and spectators—AN OLD
MAN.—Mr. Robert Gardiner, well known
to most of the oldest residents of Step
hen, Where he has resided for many
years, is considered the most active
man of his age in the county. At his
next birthday in May he will be one
hundred years -of age and is assprif;
