Without a doubt thefire originated from the evil hand of an incendiary. There was an insur ante, but the loss will be heavy. .'Usborne• Miss.N. The con testants were Mr. 11. Eilber, the old standard hearer, and Charles Christie. The fight was in no way a close one and did not at all surprise the "natives". Congratulations are due Mr. Eilber on his hard earned success. In the S. W. Ward,. Mr, J. Halls the oldest member . of the Council, haying sat continuously at the board for 19 years was opposed by Mr. W. Brownlee and through over confidence on the part of Mr, Hall's. friends Mr. Brownlee came within 3 votes of the old standby. In the S. E. Ward -Mr. J.' Shier who has sat contin- ously for that ward for the past 18 years was opposed by Mr. W. Delbridg e who was defeated by 13 the same as two years ago. For the Reeveship Mr. .� ex-warden of the county' T, M. KayY b J. Cann who said was� opposed Mr.a e oe P p Y he would poll the church temperance andpatron vote. But in spite of all a O n P p this strong array Mr. Kay was elected to sit as Reeve for the .: fifteenth year by 80 of a. majority. .
