The annual convention of the. Dairy,
wen's aaaoctation will be held in Ingersoll
in the fourth, week in January. The
Secretary of the Association will continue
the work begun so successfully last season,
of attending local meetings of Farmers

and giving addresses on practical dairying -

Exeter was well repre;entod at the Con-
servative demonstration at Lucan on Mon -
.day, and the address presented was said
by several of the prominent men present,
to bo the finest yet received while on the
tour.
Mr Samuel Essery of tbo 3rd con. Us -
borne has rented his farm to Mr, John
Hicks of the 3rd con Stephen, at a rental
of $300 per year. Mr Eseery will sell his
stock and implements, and Mr. hicks take
possession at once.
That the local press is 'by lar the best
means of advertising the advantages of a
town or city is a recognized foot. The
realostate men of Texas held a convention
a short time ago, and among other things
done they agreed that the yory bast way
for towns to advertise themselves was
through the medium of the local press.
Circulars pro.iueed in the imitation of
typewriting will be accepted by the postal
authorities far transmission at the 1 cent
per two ounce rate when at least 50 copies
in precisely identicalterms are handed into
the post office at one time. When these
oiroulara are posted in the receiver they
should be tied together. This is a modifi-
cation of a rule.
Thomas Naugle, who kept a store at
Granton, and also owned alarge .farm on
con. 7, Biddulph township, was found dead
in his store about; 11 o'clock the other
night. Foul play was at first suspected,
as there was a cut over the left eye, but
this alone was not sufficient to cause
death. The coroner at Luria was informed
of the facts, but did not deem an inquest
ne ceesary.
Three of the old residents of this locality
passed away to their long home on Mon-
day. We refer to the death of Mr. John
Spicer and Mr. John Veal of Exeter, and
Mrs. 'Walker (reliot of the late Robert
walker) of the township of Stephen.
Each had attained a good age and died
from natural causes. They were higkely
respected citizens and held in the yerle
highest esteem by hosts of friends and
relatives.
The McCormick implement works must
establish in Canada this year or ;forfeit
their charter in the Dominion. Hiram
Walker, of Walkerville, has just made the
company the highest offer that they have
received from any of the fifty towns which
have been bidding for that coveted plum.
Stratford's offer ranks second. Walker-
ville will give a free site, exemption from
taxes for ten years, and other consider-
ations, including reduced railroad rates•
A meeting of the shareholders of the
Exeter Creamery Association was held on
Taesday evening. There was a large at-
tendance. 1t was decided to run the
factory for another month ; possibly all
winter, Mr. Bobier offered the patrons
22 cents per Ib net for their butter during
the winter season. The company is in a
flourishing condition, and the farmers
being thoroughlysetisfied with past results,
bright prospects are in view for the fact-
ory next year. One farmer who had al-
ways sent hie milk to the cheese factory,
stated that duringthe month ofAugust
while milk was nver so scarce, he real.
ized $1 more from the . Creamery for the
same number of cows, and got the skim
milk home to feed the calves, than he did
during the same month Met year from the
cheese factory.
A settlement has been made between the
Brantford Starch Company and the health
authorities at Amheretburg, whereby
the former will, be given 24 hours in
whioh to finish unloading the care of
damaged Dorn from the robodner Lizzie.

In the matter of the estate of Ernest
A. Kluman late of the township of
Stephen, in the County of Iluron, Yeo-
man, Deceased.
Notice is herebyiven pursuant to Chapter
110 of the Revised Statutes of Ontario, 1887,
that all persons having claims againat the
Estate of the said late Ernest A. Kluman who
died on the 23rd day of Apri1,1892,aro requested
to deliver or send by nost prepaid to the under
signed Solicitor, 6for Henry Sweitzer and
Conrad Kuhn, Executors of the last will and
testament of the said Deceased, on or before
the 1st day of November 1893, a statement in
writing containing their names and addressee
and full particulars of their claims duly veri-
fied by Statutory Declaration and the nature of
the security (if any) held by them, and that
after the said last mentioned date the said
Executors will proceed to distribute the assets
of the said Estate among the parties entitled
thereto having regard only to claims of which
notice shall have boon received au above re-
quired. and tbo said Executors will not bo
liable for the said assets, or any part thereof
so distributed, to any person or persons of
whose claims notice shall not have boonireceiw
ed at the timo,of such distribution.
