Sam Murray's Death Sentence Commuted
--What Everyone in Gramenhurst
la Talking Ot.
A Prize Portrait
Rebus.
GRAVENIIIIRST, Sept: 28.—The many
friends of Sam Murray will be delighted to
learn that he is himaelf again, and that
after undergoing intenee suffering, each
as few Wive experienced. Sam, as every-
oneknows'is a railroeder, or rather was
up to the time, two years ago, when be
met ebb an accident while engaged in
couplieg cars. One hand was crushed and
he lost several fingers, This was on Sep-
tember 17th, 1890. Per five months and
a half the poor fellow svaa laid off work,
but his old friends did not desert him,
and many were the kind enquiriea sent
from all along the line as to how he was
getting along. At last Sam thought he
was able to work and waa put to brake
on a paesenger train and ran on the Mea -
ford Mail for about a month. He was
next changed to the %elualtoka mixed and
after a short time was tranaferred to a
weigh freight between Gravenburst and
North Bay, but, he failed steadily, like a
man in consumption lost flesh every day.
From near1i`200 pounds he went down
to 140
On June 19th last year he finished one
of hie metal runs and that same evening
when taking a walk with a lady he fell on
the sidewalk, where he lay as if dead,
The young lady gave the alarm and Sam
was carried to a doctor's office. The doe
toe said he had an attack of ACUTE Local,
reerertin and that if he eves ever able to
work again it would only be by taltieg tle
utmost care of himself. But be recovered
to a certain extent and then had another
attack while taking a row on the lake.
Then the spells oame on him with greater
frequency, and while they lasted he lost
all coneoionstseas One doctor gave him
thirty days to live, while another told him
be believed he would have sixty days in
which to settle his earthly affairs. This
was anything but pleasant news, and yet
Sam's cheery emit° never forsook him.
He belongs to the Brotherhood of Railway
Trainmen, and of course received hie
sick benefit from the G. T. R. At last
four doctors gave their oerhficates that he
would never again be able to Vain=
duties as a trainman. The Grand Trunk
railway paid him off, and the Insnrauce
Branch to which be belonged gave hint
half the amount of hia life insurance on
account ef total disability,
The Grand Trunk doctora made several
exammations and the company gave h;nr
several passes to Toronto to consult welt
specialist& At last he received a certiti-
cote stating that his blood was dieeared
and that be should never attempt to do
any work. Like Job, he was covered with
bods.
Sam's position is a peculiar one. In
the first place, the doctors, who ought to
know, any that he is unable to work and
never will be. Their certificates to that
effeot are now being considered by the
supreme authorities of the Brotherhoed,
and unlees Sam declines to accept his in-
surance they will have to pay him. But
on tho other hand he is looking for work,
and says he is as well tut ever ho wee.
His explanation of his sudden recovery le
the talk of the town as well as of Li -
comrades of the road. For months he
could not sleep on back or aides and ha
to take what little rest he got by lyites
on his stomaeh.
One day some one threw a little boek
called Mtn= Tams into his door, and hie
wife after reading it persuaded her lim-
bered to try a box of Dodd's Kidney Pill
He agreed eimply to please her, but with-
out any expectation of getting relief.
Strange to say, the pills did relieve hint
and be took several boxes of them, the
result being that to -day he is as well Po+
ever he was. Sam says he cannot under
stand it and don't care, however, seeing
that the pills have cured bins and he ie
able once again to work for his little
Jamily.—Gravenhurat Banner.

THREW AWAY HIS CRUTCHES —A
TRUE ACCOUNT OFA. REMARKABLE
GREAT SENSATI
STATEMENT Or Mn. McKee.
For eight years I was troubled with a sore
on my leg whittle tesulted from having 11
broken. The doctors kept me in bed five
months trying to heal it up, but all to no
purpose. I tried all sorts of BRIM!, lini-
ments, ointments, pills and blood medicines
but with no benefit. In 1883 it became so
bad that 1 had to tit on one chair and keep
my foot on another for four months. I
could not put my foot ou the ground or the
blood would ruth out in t a etteatn and my
leg swelled to twice its natural size. Eleven
running sores developed on it which reduc.
ea me to a hying skeleton (I lost 70 Des, in
four months). Friends advised me to go to
the Hospital; but I would not, for I knew
they would take my leg off. The doctor
then wanted to split it open and serape the
bone, but I was too weak to stand the opera
tion. One old lady said it had turned to
black erysipelas and mild never be cured.
I bad never heard of Bin dock Blood Bitters
then, but I read of a minister, Rev. Mr.
Stout; who had been cured of a severe
abscese on the neck by B. B. B. .after
mecli-
oal aid had failed, and I thought I would
try it_ 1 washed the leg with the Bitters
and itook them according to directions.
After using one bottle I could :walk on
crutches, after taking three, I threw away
the crutches, took a scythe and went to
work in the field. At the end of the sixth
bottle my leg was eutirely healed up; pieces
of loose bone had worked out of it and the
cords came baek to their nateral places
again. That was nine years ago, and it
has neyer broken ont since, I can walk five
miles to -day as fast as any one, and all this
I owe to 73. 13. B., which eertaenly saved
any leg if not my life. I cheerfully recom-
, mon d.it to all sufferer& Give 13. 13. 13. a
trine and it will cure you as it did me.
