Institute meeting. She
conducted a hands-on
demonstration, teaching
the group how to make a
no-fail bow, how to attach
wires to evergreen cones
and how to construct an
evergreen center piece,
swag or wreath. Balance,
colors, and textures are
properties to consider
during the construction.
Blending different types of
evergreen adds interest.
Several of the group will
attend Victoria Playhouse
Petrolia in December.
The 100th anniversary of
the South Huron W.I. will
be celebrated Jan. 9 with
a catered banquet at
Dashwood. Grand Bend
will be responsible for a
short entertainment num-
ber.
Former and present
members, spouses and
friends are also invited.
The speaker will be Mark
Winegarden who biked
across Canada to support
the Canadian Diabetes
Association.
Women are asked to
book their tickets by Dec.
20 from any local
Women's Institute mem-
ber, Donna Lovie at 238-

service Sunday morning.
Corey Smith lit the Christ
Candle and Rev. Carter
told the children a story
about characteristics of
their parents and sharing.
The choir sang ‘Until
Then’ accompanied by
organist Marilyn
Vandenbussche. Rev.
Carter read the scriptures
and the title of her sermon
was ‘You Did It To Me’.
Floyd and Shirley Cooper
received the offering and
were the greeters.

The congregation is
reminded to bring items
for the Food Bank to the
service on Dec. 1.
The Bethlehem Walk
committee needs robes,
shawls and capes for cos-
tumes for the shepherds,
marketplace people and
wise men. If you can help

A support program
‘Handling loss through the
holidays’ is planned on
Dec. 5 from 1 to 3:30 p.m.
at Exeter United Church
parlour.
The ‘Coats for Kids’ pro-
gram needs winter appar-
el for children of all ages
and sizes. Coats should be
in good repair (no broken
zippers) and preferably
clean. Mitts, hats, scarves
and boots are also appre-
ciated. Items can be
dropped off at Exeter
Cleaning Centre or D&D
Variety in Hensall.
The Huron County
Children of Chernobyl is
raising money by selling
Christmas trees. Order
your tree now for pickup
at the Warwick farm on
Nov. 29, Dec. 9, 13, 16
and 20. Choose from white
spruce, white pine, scotch
pine and balsam fir. All
trees are $20. The stan-
dard height is six to seven
feet, however eight and
nine foot trees are also
available. Contact Paul
and Virginia Warwick at

A program ‘Responses to
Jesus’ Birth’ is planned at
the church on Nov. 27
from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Come
and sing some carols and
enter a guided meditation-
birth.
A costume fitting will be
held Nov. 28 at 7 p.m. for
everyone taking part in
the Bethlehem Walk.
The Community of
Churches choir will prac-
tice Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. for
the Bethlehem Walk at
Thames Road-Elimville
U.C.
The Bethlehem Walk
has been organized for
Dec. 6 starting at 7:30
p.m. at the church. Please
bring a gift for the Huron
County Christmas Bureau
or the Food Bank. The
evening will be a re-enact-
ment of the Christmas
Story in a country setting.
A community choir and
local actors will walk you
through the sights and
sounds of Bethlehem and
the nativity scene. The
presentation will be held
in and around the church.
Dress appropriately for
visiting outdoor scenes.
The evening is presented
by the Community of Area
Rural United Churches.
The Sunbeams will meet
Dec. 5 at the church from
9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
The Christmas meeting
of the U.C.W. will be held
Dec. 10 at the church with
a program presented by
Nancy Smith, Alice Cann,
Jean Hodgert, Anne Bray
and Leona Cottle.
The roll call will be
‘Wear a Christmas pin or
corsage and tell its story’.
Members will exchange
secret pal gifts and lunch
will be served by Carolyn
Johns, Helen Weston,
Virginia Warwick, Pat
Ballantyne and Margaret
Stewart.
The Sunday School chil-
dren and their teachers
will be making Christmas
crafts Dec. 1. After the
church service, the con-
gregation can stay and
help and enjoy refresh-
ments with them.

The Council has passed a motion
prohibiting the PLACEMENT OF SIGNS,
PLANTERS, POP MACHINES OR ANY
ITEMS that would interfere with the removal
of snow from the sidewalks or boulevards
during the period of November 1st to April
1st.
NO PARKING is allowed on any road
allowance between the hours of 2 a.m. and
7 a.m. during the period of November 1st to
