If you require protection against Hepatitis A
and B for travelling, you need three doses at
intervals of 0, 1 and 6 months. The vaccine,
TwinRix, has now been approved for a new
rapid dosing schedule of 0, 7 and 21 days.
This schedule is recommended for adults only when travel is
anticipated within one month.
It is estimated that premature ejaculation is a problem for 22-
38% of males. Treatment includes “pause and squeeze” where
the penis is squeezed at the base or top for about 4 seconds,
anesthetic creams and sometimes, certain drugs, like the
newer antidepressants, can help the problem. Your doctor can
help advise you.
We hear so much about the benefits of ASA for heart disease
and stroke prevention. However, this drug should not be given
to anyone under the age of 18 with a viral illness (flu, chicken
pox) because of its association with Reye’s syndrome. Reye’s
can affect the brain, liver and blood glucose levels and can
occur in otherwise healthy children. Best rule: Avoid ASA in
children altogether.
Most aphthous ulcers (canker sores) will disappear in about 2
weeks. There are various non-prescription treatments available
for this annoying problem including local anesthetics,
protectants and rinsing mouth with saline solution. If the
cankers keep recurring, there are some prescription products
that can be used.
