LUCAN – It was a long
night for the Lucan Irish
Nov. 13 against the
Mitchell Hawks, losing 10-
2.
Lucan coach Randy
Campbell could only say
“every team has one
game like that a season,
and we had our’s early in
the season.”
It looked good for Lucan
early in the game with
Adam Thompson break-
ing in on a shorthanded
rush and beating Mitchell
goalie Matt Dalton to
make it 1-0.
But it was almost all
Mitchell for the rest of the
game as they gradually
took control, checking
hard and not giving Lucan
any room to skate.
Lucan goalie Joe Dobbie
had a rough night, start-
ing with the first Hawks
goal deflecting in off an
Irish skate, and getting
worse as the game went
on, until being pulled for
Shane Dejong in the third
period.
After Mitchell scored a
pair of goals taking a 2-1
lead, Brady Kjeldgaard
came back on the power-
play for Lucan, scoring on
a high slapshot from the
point, allowing Lucan to
finish the period tied 2-2.
Campbell had predicted
a tough game against
Mitchell, and was proven
right, as they broke the
game open in the second
period, scoring three
goals, taking a 5-2 lead
they wouldn’t give up.
The Hawks continued
to get stronger through-
out the game, checking
the Irish into the ice,
blocking passes through
the neutral zone, and
never allowing second
chances around their net.
The third period was
one Lucan would rather
forget, with the Hawks
scoring five unanswered
goals, two against Dobbie
who was finally pulled
midway through the peri-
od.
Looking for offence
Campbell left his net
empty for several min-
utes, before putting in
Shane Dejong who had lit-
tle more luck than Dobbie
did, as the Hawks contin-
ued to run up the score,
finally winning 10-2.
The Irish are at home
against North Middlesex
Nov. 20 at 7:45.

EXETER – The senior
girls defeated Goderich
35-17 Nov. 13 to win
the Huron title and
move on to the Huron-
Perth championship.
Lori Hogan played one
of her best games of
the season leading the
team with 10 points,
while Nikki Cyr was
strong on the boards
offensively and defen-
sively with nine points.
It was an excellent
overall team effort,
with contributions from
everyone. Amber
Preszcator scored six
points off the bench,
and Jillian Jones put
down four. Defensively,
Julie Prout and Denise
Ritchie were solid
throughout the
game.
On Nov.
15 the
Panthers
took the
court
against St.
Marys, playing
a strong game
but coming up short
47-23. St Marys jumped
out to an early lead
they never gave up to
win the Huron-Perth
championship.
The Panthers next
action is the WOSSAA
tournament Nov. 20 at
St. Mikes.

Bunnies team game against the Seaforth Bunnies Nov.16
in the Ron Ferguson Memorial Ringette Tournament at
the Rec Centre.Tournament organizer Michele Hodgert
said it was the best results ever for Exeter teams, win-
ning 14 out of 18 games and keeping three plaques.

Novice C Red. Included for the first time in the tourna-
ment was the use of the shot clock, which the girls
adjusted to very well.Hodgert said the support from the
