DUPLEX DESIGN Plan No.H- 8-3-221 A classic exterior gives this duplex the distinguished appearance of an
executive home. A generous amount of floor space – almost 1,500 square feet on two floors – has been given to
each suite as well as an unfinished basement. Inside the covered entrance, a pocket door off the foyer leads to the
kitchen and breakfast nook. This good-sized area is placed at the front of the house, with the nook attractively set
in a bay window. Angled sinks serve as a partial separation between the kitchen and the breakfast area, providing a
practical solution to hiding any kitchen clutter that might collect during meal preparation. The dining room is
partially offset from the living room, giving it a pleasantly formal separation. The rectangular living room includes
useful built-in shelves and a sliding glass door, which opens to the rear patio with steps down to the back garden.
The laundry room is neatly tucked away behind a central powder room. Skylights brighten the hallway on the second
floor, where the master suite at the rear has a bay window with a view of the garden. The layout of the suite
includes a dressing area opposite the walk-in closet and a three-piece en suite bathroom. Bedrooms two and three
share the main bathroom, which also has a skylight to enhance the natural light on this floor. A useful computer
area has been included at the front of the house, easily accessible to all members of the family. The duplex is 60
feet wide and 48 feet deep with a total of 2,930 square feet of living space and unfinished basement areas.
Plans for design H-8-3-221 are available for $504 (set of 5), $589 (set of 8) and $643 for a super set of 10. B.C.

Corn maze proposal
GRAND BEND – The
Greater Grand Bend
Community Assocation
(GGBCA) met Nov. 14 in
the Grand Bend municipal
office.
Corn maze
At Lambton Shores com-
munity services manager
Kevin Bryson’s urging, the
GGBCA will make a pro-
posal to Lambton Shores
council to create a corn
maze on about 15 acres of
municipal land off
Klondike Rd.
A partnership with Lake
Smith Conservationists
could see the harvested
corn feed migrating trum-
peter swans.
Director John Walsh
suggested the maze would
be open August to
Halloween and could tie in
with events at the
Lambton Museum and
Pinery Provincial Park.
“It’s healthy tourism,”
said president Stephanie
Donaldson.
Energy conservation
Environment committee
member John Walsh
urged energy conserva-
tion to meet the Kyoto
agreement and increasing
hydro costs.
He reported on a tour of
windmill-generated 12-
volt power systems and
solar panels.
Director Ron Leakey
said people would con-
serve more energy if
Ontario Hydro charged a
higher rate for the more
hydro customers use, not
a lower rate.
Grant application
Director David Bannister
presented a draft applica-
tion for a $2,500 grant
from the Sarnia
Community Foundation
and Dow Chemical
Canada.
Asset-based Community
Development grants are
available for
Sarnia/Lambton groups
working to improve the
‘quality of life in their
community.’
Past events
Donaldson reported the
Evening of Elegance Nov.
7 was a “huge success.”
Over $9,000 was raised,
with funds split between
the Grand Bend Area
Health Services
Foundation and the
Partnership Committee for
the Library, Cultural and
Recreational Centre at the
Public School.
Donaldson said organiz-
ers could have sold double
the 80 tickets attending,
but space was limited at
the Grand Cove Estates
Caddy Shack.
Donaldson and director
John Walsh laid a wreath
at the Remembrance Day
service at the Grand Bend
Legion. Walsh said this
action makes the GGBCA
a visible part of the com-
munity.
The GGBCA donated a
turkey for the public
school Christmas dinner.
Future events
Director Paul Bieman
reported plans for a Pier
Party are on hold. The
Rotary Club may organize
such an event.
Lambton Shores Mayor
Cam Ivey will attend the
Dec. 13 meeting to discuss
committees of council.
