tournament
Game 1 - Tavistock 0 vs. Exeter 2
Goals: David Reschke, Larry
Northover
Assists: Cale Duenk, Reid
Halpenny
Coaches comments: The game
was well played by the whole
team. The defence shut down
Tavistock’s offence at every turn.
The few shots Tavistock was able
to get off were handled well by
Stephen Osgood who ended up
with the shutout. The game was
penalty free for South Huron and
Tavistock had one minor penalty.
It was a great team effort.
Game 2 - Exeter 2 vs. Forest 0
Goals: Matt Cooper, Jared Anstett
Assists: C. Duenk, Northover
Coaches comments: Another well
played game against league rival
Forest. The defence worked hard
to keep their opponents from get-
ting any good shots past goal-
tender Osgood. Osgood picked up
his second shutout in a row.
There were 4 minor penalties
assessed against S.H. and Forest
picked up five minor penalties.
The passing and close checking
combined together made for a
well deserved victory.
Game 3 - Exeter 2 vs. Mitchell 5
Goals: Justin Dionne, Anstett
Assists: Eric Duenk, C. Duenk,
Reschke
Coaches comments: This game
was the ‘A’ division championship
game. South Huron opened the
scoring in the first period and
went up two nothing midway
through the second period, the
last time they would score.
Mitchell got on the scoreboard
late in the second period, then
tied the game early in the third
period and would not score again
until 41 seconds were left in the
game. The last goal was an empty
netter with 32 seconds remaining.
Mitchell captured the ‘A’ champi-
onship with South Huron as run-
ner-up. A great showing for South
Huron.

STRATFORD – The senior boys volleyball team was in
Stratford Nov. 5 against North Western and St. Mikes
for the Huron-Perth playoffs.
Despite strong play from the whole team in the quar-
ter and semi-finals, the team fell just short of making it
to the Huron-Perth finals.
South Huron’s quarter-final match was against
NorthWestern and the Panthers were strong offensive-
ly and defensively, defeating them 28-26, 21-25, 25-19,
and 25-23 to advance to the semi-finals against St.
Mike’s.
It was an all around effort against North Western,
especially from Kieran O’Rouke who supplied leader-
ship throughout the match. Mark Laye and Everette
Dionne gave great set-ups, and Jon Brand was very
strong at ‘Libero’.
Other clutch efforts were from Jesse McCann and
Justin Hayter at middle blocker, with Jake Romphf and
Peter Fragiskatos blocking, hitting and setting aggres-
sively from the right side attack position.
The semi-final against St. Mikes was very exciting
with South Huron going down to defeat, 25-17, 25-22,
23-25, 13-25, 19-17.
The senior boys will play Nov. 12 against Goderich
and St. Marys to determine the two ‘AA’ representa-
tives for the WOSSAA tournament to be held Nov. 15.
