Plans were made for a
Christmas Party on Dec. 4
at 6 p.m. Sandra Turner
will cater. Entertainment
will be provided by the Old
Spice Girls from Mitchell.
The cost will be $13 each.
They invite any seniors in
the area to come. Please

after which games of
euchre were played.
Colored card winner was
Marg McClymont, high
and Ruth Johnston win-
ning the consolation prize.
White card winner was
Glen Deichert with the
consolation prize going to
Hugh McBride.
The next meeting will be
on Tuesday afternoon,
Jan. 7.
The Huronview Auxiliary
is sponsoring a bus trip to
the Walters Family
Christmas Party Dec. 3 in
Brantford. The bus will
leave Clinton at 9:30 a.m.

Meetings five and six of
the Varna 4-H club were
held at Kate Keys’ house
on Nov. 6. They group
toured the dairy barn to
see the cows being milked
and to learn what cows
eat. They also talked
about different kinds of
animals and their needs.
They discussed how to
make good soil, how to
plant seeds and what
plants need for good
growth.
Kate Keys and Joyce
Dowson have volunteered
their time to lead the 4-H
club. This was their last
meeting and they hope
someone will volunteer to
take over leading the Club.
The church service was
in Varna on Sunday.
Pastor Elly Van Bergen
opened with the welcome
and announcements. A
candle was lit as a symbol
of peace. Pastor Van
Bergen’s message was on
‘A Handle On the
Situation’.
Following the service,
members congregated at
the Cenotaph for the
Laying of the Wreaths.
Floyd McAsh laid the
wreath representing the
Veterans, Charles Reid
laid the wreath represent-
ing the Orange Lodge and
Mavis Govier laid the
wreath representing the
Municipality of Bluewater.
Church on Nov. 17 will
be in Goshen.
On Nov. 18 there will be
a board meeting at 8 p.m.
at Goshen.
Donations to the local
foodbanks can be left in
both of the churches on
Sunday and will be deliv-
ered to the area food-
banks.
Bill Taylor will be selling
amaryllis bulbs for the
Huntington Society of
Canada. Each year volun-
teers of the Huntington
Society sell amaryllis gift
kits across Canada to raise
money and awareness for
the fight against
Huntington disease. The
cost is $11 per kit.
Huron County Christmas
Bureau 2002 would like
donations of new toys,
new clothing and financial
support.

Shotgun,crossbow
stolen from truck
EXETER – Sometime between 9 a.m.
and 1 p.m. Nov. 4, a 12-gauge shotgun
in a black case and a crossbow were
stolen from a 1996 green Chev Blazer
sitting in a driveway on Sanders St. in
Exeter.
Huron OPP report the vehicle was
unlocked. Two boxes of shells and five
broad- head arrows were also taken.
The theft is valued at $2,200.
Anyone who can assist investigators in
solving this theft and recovering the
stolen weapons is asked to call Exeter
OPP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-
8477(TIPS).
Load levelers
stolen from trailer
CREDITON – Two load levelers weigh-
ing about 100 lbs each were removed
from a trailer parked on the Municipal
lot on Victoria St. in Crediton overnight
Oct. 24-25.
Huron OPP report the theft is valued at
$1,300. Anyone with information is
asked to call Huron OPP or Crime
Stoppers.
