By-Pat Bolen TIMES ADVOCATE STAFF HENSALL – The Hensall Sherwoods were at home against Lucknow Nov. 2, win- ning in overtime 5-4. It appeared the Sherwoods would cruise to an easy victo- ry, jumping out to a quick 3-0 lead in the 1st, ending the period up 4- 1. But a couple of good bounces gave the visitors the breaks they needed to make a game of it. Taking the play away from Hensall in the 2nd period, Lucknow got back in the game with a quick goal to make it 4- 2, and then cut the Sherwoods lead to one by the end of the peri- od. Hensall coach Randy Parker said his team had lots of chances in the 3rd period to put the game away, but couldn’t do it. With 8 minutes left in the game, Lucknow tied it up, forcing overtime where Mark Bell scored at the 3 minute mark, to pull the victory out for Hensall. Parker was happy with his team’s effort and penalty killing, but said “disci- pline could be better.” Bell scored a pair of goals, with Scott Phillips, Sean McCann, and Chris Downie each adding one. Hensall’s next game in Clinton Nov. 8 has been cancelled, and the Sherwoods will be at home against Monkton Sat night at 7:30 p.m. Sherwoods win in overtime Sean McCann scores from the slot for the Hensall Sherwoods game against Lucknow Nov. 2.The Sherwoods won in overtime 5-4.(photo/Pat Bolen)
