POLICE BRIEFS
Exeter
man
charged
after
assault
GODERICH TWP. – On
Oct. 5 at 7 a.m., Huron OPP
were called to a residence
on Porter’s Hill Line in
Goderich Twp. about four
men assaulting an older
man.
The man received a
threatening phone call at 4
a.m., then four men
showed up at the residence.
The victim opened the door
and was allegedly struck in
the face by one of the men.
The men left but within 15
minutes returned and
broke into the garage. The
victim was again attacked
with blunt instruments. A
number of items of person-
al property were destroyed
and windows and other
vehicle parts were
destroyed on a vehicle in
the driveway.
Michael McVeeney, 19, of
Exeter was charged with
uttering threats, possession
of stolen property obtained
by crime, assault with a
weapon and failing to com-
ply with an undertaking.
An 18-year-old Bayfield
man was charged with
assault causing bodily
harm and breaching proba-
tion.
Both were held in custody
for a bail hearing Oct. 7.
Two more young men are
being sought. The stolen
property recovered includ-
ed a 9-1-1 emergency sign
from a residence.
Vending
van
broken
into
EXETER – Sometime over
the Oct. 5-6 weekend,
someone forced a lock on a
Break-Thyme Vending
cube van on Huron St.,
Exeter.
Huron OPP report vari-
ous types of chocolate bars,
gum and rolls of coin val-
ued at $600 were stolen.

12 hour
suspension
issued
BLUEWATER – On Oct.
5, Huron OPP stopped a
vehicle for driving with no
headlights on on Hwy. 84
in Bluewater.
The driver, a 21-year-old
Hay man, lost his driver’s
license for 12 hour after
being found with an odour
of alcohol on his breath and
blowing into a roadside
device.
