A-rather laughable incident took
place in the Express .office the other
day. Ari ardent admirer of King Wm
III, and consequently a loyal subject
qf the British Crown noticed some
thing behind the counter of the ex
press office which, to hfs excitable
brain, appeared to be an infernal
machine. It was with the utmost
difficulty he could be persuaded to
believe it was. a patent- shower bath.
Some;29 years ago Robt. Graham
of this village wrote and published
in the* Empire, a paper then pub
lished in Goderich, a short P°.em
named, “Things that Never Die.” I
presume more on account of the
writer than the real worth of the
piece, it was laughed at as-doggeral.
Since then it lias travelled many a
mile and recently appeared in tile
Globe, having beep copied from that
■ splendid magazine, “All the Year.
Round.” -
For a few years' subsequent to the
building of the R. It. Lucknow’s pro
gress hud been very slow. We have
-helcTour- own, however, and we can
boast that we are out of debt, which
is much more than some of our
sistqr towns can say. This year we
expqptaboom in the building line.
At present the Massey Mfg' Co. are
putting up large ware rooms for the
sale of.their implements, on Stauffer,

Donald, book and; shoe maker, is
erecting a store and Al,McMillan is
building a black smith shop on
