Theft.
One evening' last week a number of
chicken were stolen from Mrs. Orns,
Station Ilotel, and were supposed to
have been taken to the salt works
where they Were killed and eaten. It
is understood that warrants have been
issued for the arrest' of the parties and
they have left- for other parts: No
doubt the Chief of Police has the guilty
parties this time.

Mr. Thomas Cornish disposed of his
73 acre farm, lot 16, concession 2, Us -
borne, to Mr. William Fletcher, of:, the
same townshrp,,on Staurday last. The
price received was 85,500, and is con-
sidered a fair one; this is considered
very desirable property, a new brick
house. having been erected lately and
ood outbuildings, and situated. just a
mile east of this village.
'Noticed in Time.
Shortly after the fire had been start-
ed on Tuesday morning in the large
furnace under the boiler in W. N. Ver-
ity & Sons foundry, steam was olaserv-
ed escaping from several tubes at the
end of the.boiler. The fire was immed-
iately taken from underneath and up-
on closer examination it was found.

of several of the employees for a few
days until all had been repaired. In

On Saturday last Mr. Rd. Crocker, of
this place received a telegram from
Northville, Mich., bearing the sad in-
telligence of -his. brother. Isaac's death
who died on Friday 23rd inst:, at the
age of 47 years and 7:months. No par-
ticulars were given as to the cause of
death: It will be well remembered
that deceased Was a former resident of
this place and while here took an ac
tire part in the band asimaster, which
