Not long ago an enterprising adver-
tiser hit upon the idea of making an
electrical tricycle carry his placards
through the streets,' A more realistic
idea, < is that carried out by a :firm of
bellmal:ers in a Western city. A
set of chines has been designed,
to be attached to an electrical tricycle,
which will travel around the city; dl1
the lower part of the frame on which f
the chimes are fixed is a keyboard of
between two and three, octaves. This
is played in exaetly the same way as,
the organ or piano keyboard, and some
very beautiful combinations are rend-
ered possible. Alt the thirty bells
forming the set, which are hung on a
rack, are rung electrically. Attached
to each of them is an electro magnet,
and the keys make the circuit froma c
battery in the base to the electro -nag -
net at the bells.

TO T11E EDITOR 01` THIE "ADVOCATB,"
STR,—Tho Reformers have at last in-
oculated a plan with suflicent courage
to oppose Mr. Hutchins. The person
referred to is Mr. Taylor, of McGilliv
ray. It is due to the electors of the
riding to know upon what grounds he
seeks the suffrages of the constituents.
Ho comes out under two flags, that of
the Reformers or "Unrestricted Recip
rocity" and the Patrons of Industry.
Needless to say it is pure presumption'
on his part to call himself the Patrons'
candidate as it isa well known fact
that they made no choice at their con•

therefore, have not brought out a can-

is merely an extort on his .part to catch
their vote, but he will fail, as there are
many Reform Patrons who will not
support a man guilty of such double
