expedition to Stoney Point he brought
in Barnard Laferet, on a warrant
charging him with complicity in :the
counterfeiting t oeratiolls of John Stin-

the "queer" product. His examination
is set for Jan, 16th with that of the
Stinsons, the Doodley woman and Stod-'
dard. He was taken to Sandwich.
The detectivesare still working up

more arrests will be made before long.'
John Mooreshead, son of John Moores -
head, Sr., a man atbout thirty years of
age and of uusound mind, left his home
between 8 and 9. o'clock on Feeley
morning' last. After diligent search'
all day Friday and Saturday, intelli-
gence was received over the wire Sat-
urday evening that a person of his
description was in the neighborhood of
Denfield, It was afterwards learned
that he had first directed his course to-
wards Crediton, end front there re•
traced his steps as far as the G. T.R.;
track which he took as far as Denfield.•
It is not known where he remained,
on Friday night; but a kind hearted
gentleman in Denfield gave him lod-

his father drove down and brought him:

On Wednesdayeaveninr of last week;
a Christmas tree :and entertainment
was held in Caven Presbyterian'
Church. The tree was literally cover-
ed with many rich and costly presents.
After several speeches and songs had
been rendered, the,distribution of pres-
ents to the children and members of
the choir•, was the next order of busi-
ness. The attendance was very good,
the proceeds amounting to $12 At
the same time the members of the
church presented Mr. J. P. Ross with a
very handsome present, it being a gold
headed cane, for his Untiring efforts as
leader of the choir. Mr. Ross was very
much surprised at the gift, and
thanked them all in a <1f;v ! ordeal
manner. After which all dispersed,
well satisfied with their evening's en-
joyment.
The annual meeting of Cavell Pres•
byterian church was held Tuesday
evening Jan. 13th. The attendance
was the largest in the history of the
congregation. Before commencing
the business of the meeting the mem-
bers and adherents took tea together,
kindly ;provided by the. Ladies Aid So•
eiety and engageda pleasant hour in
social conversation. After devotional
exercise reports were read from the
manthging board. 'Treasurer, Sabbath'
school, Christian Endeavor Society,
Ladies Aid Society and the Session.
These reports showed a healthy state
of affairs in all the departments of the
congregation. The Treasurer's report
showed that a balenee remained in iris
thands after the years indebtedness was
met and that while less than $300 was
*;till due on the manse this was provid-
ed for by subscriptions now due which
virtually leaves the congregation free
of debt. Money raised for the year,
fee congregational purposes $1200,
manse fees $290, mission etc: $140, Tot
ai :$1,G36.

The Specilties, the Novelties, the Oddities of the A R T

first time in many years there is a coal stove that is on every
tongue. Manufacturers, travelling men, stove dealers, farm-

about the

Why is this?
Because the Anil' COUNTESS. is daring inits original-

Np other stove has anything like it. New from top to toe.
Brilliant from urn to base. Beautiful in its effect under fire.
Radiant on the parlor floor, and eloquent in its hot air con
