es of "'ha cknow society were held

cess, fully 6,006 people witnessed a fine
programme of athletics and Highland
dancing and music carried out under
efficient management. All the various
competitions were keenly 'interesting
and elicited much appause.
The tug-of-war between the stalwarts
of Huron and Bruce counties was an
unparalleled exhibition of pleysicalren-
durance. Huron won the first draw.
The second essay lasted one -hour and
twenty minutes. At several stages the
contestants were asked to desist, but
feeling ran high, and not until the
lateness of the hour compelled it was
the referee able with impartiality to de-
clare the contest a draw.
