A special from Jamestown, N. D., says it will be a startling piece of news to the wheat growers of North Dakota to find out on the eve of har- vest that no elevator in the state will store grain this year. This radical change in handling of the crop has been kept as secret as possible. It was de- termined upon, it is said, soon after the law was passed this year whioh makes alt public elevators and ware- houses pay an annual license of $2.50 per 1,000 bushels capacity. Nine - tenths of the crop of the state has here- tofore been bought by the elevator companies upon the Duluith and Min- neapolis quotations, A farmer could store his grain in these elevators for fifteen days for nothing., and keep it in store as long as he desired if he pay a small fee threfor. Now the elevators will refuse this on the ground that they are not public elevators, and the farm- er who is mortgaged to the ears this year Will be compelled to sell his ~crop at whateverprice the company chooses to allow hint. In most cases this will leave hind penniless for the waiter. ,v\Q`.\... , jL,y`u\Yt'.+,,a'Qb`l'.:?..> Jy:a.`'e'tx'4'•,',\\\\?`,@'l' y;l`r\l. e.<`yr '}'. fi' for Infante and; Children.
