(Bonnie Gropp photos) Fake tree begins decorating ‘fetish’ By Bonnie Gropp Citizen editor It all began with an artificial tree for Shelley Jorritsma. “I had a real tree and it dried out so much that was it. I got a fake one and ever since I’ve just kept adding on with the Christmas decorations. It’s a weakness, like a shoe fetish,” she smiles. While decorations are repeated, Jorristma likes to be creative too and come up with a new addition to the holiday decor each year. She also does most of the centrepieces featured throughout the house. “I like to go on home tours. They are a good way to get ideas.” The basement is a wonderland of snowmen, while the main floor is co ordinated in burgundy and gold, right down to the wrapping on the presents. Every room but the bedrooms of her two grown children feature some seasonal touches. “It takes me about two weeks to decorate. Full-time.”
